Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ross Jacob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gunderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jacob might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Champion. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jacob really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Jacob is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gunderson's half guard. Jacob wants to free his trapped foot but Gunderson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Gunderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jacob. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jacob looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jacob wants to work for an arm triangle but Gunderson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jacob seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Gunderson has recovered full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gunderson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jacob is one step ahead there. Gunderson striking off his back but it's not causing Jacob any problems. Jacob slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gunderson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gunderson wants to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gunderson is trying to improve his position. Jacob working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Jacob is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gunderson tries to buck Jacob off but Jacob is having none of it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gunderson struggling a bit here. Jacob tries to advance position but instead Gunderson slips a leg back in to half guard. Jacob wants to work for an arm triangle but Gunderson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gunderson wants to control but Jacob is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gunderson wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacob works his foot free and advances to mount. Gunderson regains half guard. Gunderson wants to get back to his feet.

Gunderson is trying to maintain the position but Jacob is very close to passing his half guard. Gunderson gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jacob is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gunderson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gunderson has escaped and now he's on top! Gunderson wants to control from the top but Jacob keeps moving. Jacob is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gunderson defends well. Jacob looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gunderson has picked Jacob up and slammed him! Jacob can't keep hold of the triangle and Gunderson manages to pass to side control! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gunderson creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Jacob tries to improve position but can't. Gunderson wants to control but Jacob is keeping him busy. Jacob sneaks back into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ross Jacob will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Gunderson shoots and misses and Jacob counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jacob drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jacob jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gunderson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Jacob won't allow Gunderson to sweep him here. Jacob drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gunderson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jacob has Gunderson in his guard. Jacob is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jacob is looking for a triangle here but Gunderson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gunderson decides to stand back up. Gunderson steps back and let's Jacob get back to his feet. Jacob moves out of range of the body kick. A head kick misses from Gunderson. Gunderson tries to bum rush Jacob with a series of wild strikes but Jacob uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jacob scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gunderson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jacob thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jacob is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gunderson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jacob works to advance to full mount. Gunderson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Gunderson wants to hold on but Jacob pushes him away. Gunderson has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gunderson showing good submission defense here.
Jacob avoiding Gunderson 's attempts to control his hands. Jacob tightening his grip on Gunderson, looking for the choke. Jacob working for a choke but Gunderson is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jacob is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gunderson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gunderson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Jacob's arms. You can see the frustration on Gunderson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
