Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vonatletzin Askiban!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Logan Briggs!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Askiban drives through with a takedown into guard.
Askiban looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Briggs seems keen to control Askiban's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Briggs looking for a sweep. Not yet Briggs, not yet.
Briggs is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Briggs controls Askiban momentarily but Askiban frees himself.
Briggs wants to improve his position but instead Askiban has moved into half guard.
Askiban takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Briggs misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Askiban is thwarting Briggs's attempts to control the position.
Askiban looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Briggs drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Askiban taking punishment in the form of punches.
Briggs tries to move to mount but Askiban blocks the move with his legs.
Briggs tries to stand but Askiban is controlling his head.
Askiban struggling a bit here.
Briggs in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Briggs works to advance to full mount. Askiban defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Askiban takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Briggs is landing with some decent strikes but Askiban is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Askiban tries to hold on but Briggs pushes him away.

I looks like Briggs might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Briggs is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Askiban has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Briggs controlling the position easily from mount.

Askiban tries to reverse the position but Briggs maintains control.
Briggs trying to control but Askiban is having none of it.
Briggs with the ground and pound from mount.
Briggs landing strikes, looking to finish!
Briggs has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Briggs manages to capitalize on a mistake by Askiban to take his back!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Briggs. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Briggs scores with punches and elbows.
Askiban is trapped and Briggs is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Briggs scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Askiban rolls, trying to escape but Briggs keeps control of the position.
Briggs lands a shot to the body.
Briggs is punishing Askiban with strikes - can he finish him?!

Briggs is hanging on to Askiban's back as he tries to escape.
Briggs controlling the position well here. Askiban rolled but Briggs kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Briggs fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Briggs closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Briggs lands in his opponent's guard.

Briggs passes Askiban's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Briggs looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Briggs slips a nice elbow through Askiban's hands, connecting with Askiban's forehead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Askiban has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Briggs is working away from the top position though.

Briggs stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Briggs is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Askiban's half guard.

Briggs is trying to control the action in half guard but Askiban is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Briggs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Briggs winds up and cracks Askiban with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Askiban is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, if Briggs is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Askiban tries to get to full guard but Briggs has control of the leg.
Askiban is working hard here to advance position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Briggs throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Askiban was covering up waiting for the punch and Briggs finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Briggs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Briggs gets to his feet. Askiban looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Briggs closes the distance and clinches.
Briggs tries for a takedown but Askiban manages to get underhooks.

Briggs pulls Askiban into guard.
Askiban throws a big right hand that misses.
Briggs trying to control the position here.
Briggs lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Askiban!

Askiban keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Askiban defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Briggs.
Askiban tries to hold on but Briggs pushes him away.
Askiban is squirming around, avoiding Briggs's attempts to control the action.

Briggs gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Briggs drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Briggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Briggs shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Briggs showed some decent athleticism there.
Askiban tries to roll over but Briggs keeps him under control.

Briggs wants to stand up but Askiban has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Askiban trying to hold on to Briggs's head to control him but Briggs postures up.

Briggs decides to stand and escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Briggs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Askiban sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Briggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Askiban is looking for a sweep. Briggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Askiban is looking to control Briggs's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Askiban avoid being mounted?
Briggs is trying to control. Askiban wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Still in half guard, Briggs seems content to control.
Askiban won't allow Briggs to pass to mount.

Briggs looks to land a combination. Askiban sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Briggs tries to close the distance and clinch but Askiban swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Briggs looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Askiban has Briggs up against the cage in a clinch.
Askiban prevents the takedown attempt.
Askiban tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Briggs smiles and moves away.

Briggs gets the takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Askiban wants to control but Briggs postures up.
Briggs lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Askiban is looking to reverse the position.
Briggs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Askiban keeps working.

Briggs decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Askiban misses with a takedown
and Briggs counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Briggs.

Askiban tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Briggs controlling the position.
Askiban is trying to improve his position.
Askiban is trying to control Briggs's posture but Briggs avoids it.
The referee asks Briggs politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Briggs prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vonatletzin Askiban has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Logan Briggs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Briggs decides to take the fight back to the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Logan Briggs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Briggs winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
