Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Travis Schalk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Gailfus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gailfus is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: bleed it out. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Travis Schalk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeffrey Gailfus! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schalk throws a push kick but Gailfus slaps the foot to one side. Gailfus shoots in but no luck this time. Schalk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gailfus counters with a head kick. That will keep Schalk thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Travis Schalk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gailfus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gailfus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Gailfus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schalk is fending him off so far but Gailfus persists. Nope, Schalk circles away and we're back to standing. Travis Schalk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeffrey Gailfus. Schalk fails in his attempt to clinch. Schalk throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gailfus was covering up waiting for the punch and Schalk finishes the takedown easily into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schalk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Schalk controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gailfus keeping moving, preventing Schalk from controlling successfully. Schalk advances to half guard. Schalk trying to control the pace. Gailfus is pressing down on Schalk's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gailfus keeping moving, preventing Schalk from controlling successfully. Schalk won't allow Gailfus to sweep him here. Gailfus has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Schalk stands up and waves to Gailfus to follow him. Gailfus tries for a takedown but Schalk circles away easily and Schalk counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gailfus's guard now. Gailfus looks gassed! Schalk decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schalk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gailfus keeping moving, preventing Schalk from controlling successfully. Gailfus can't keep his opponent in guard - Schalk advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Schalk is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Schalk tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gailfus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gailfus tries to get to full guard but Schalk has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schalk not doing much here.
Gailfus is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gailfus tries to get to full guard but Schalk has control of the leg. Schalk is trying to control. Gailfus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gailfus blocking the ground and pound attempt from Schalk. Schalk is thwarting Gailfus's attempts to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Schalk throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Travis Schalk dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Schalk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Schalk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Schalk trying to control but Gailfus is having none of it. Schalk controlling the pace for now. Gailfus is looking to get to half guard. Gailfus is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gailfus tries to hold on but Schalk pushes him away. Gailfus is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gailfus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schalk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gailfus is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Schalk locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Gailfus is forced to tap!
