Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Pace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Lashley! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lashley drives through with a takedown into guard. Pace looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Lashley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Lashley working some strikes from top position. Lashley with a nice head shot there. Lashley landing with the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lashley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lashley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lashley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pace is keeping the position for now. Lashley with a nice head shot there. Lashley trying to control the position from guard on top but Pace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pace wants to stand up but Lashley is controlling him. Lashley lands a couple of decent looking shots. Pace working a defensive guard here.
Pace is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lashley is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lashley distracts Pace with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lashley wants to pass the guard but Pace is keeping the position. Lashley working some strikes from top position. Pace has momentary wrist control but Lashley slips an elbow through the middle. Lashley is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Lashley works over Pace with some ground and pound from guard. Pace has his feet on Lashley's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Ben Pace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lashley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pace to the mat! Pace manages to get full guard. Pace manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lashley takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Pace trying to control but Lashley is having none of it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Lashley is desperately trying to improve his position but Pace has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lashley is squirming around, avoiding Pace's attempts to control the action. Lashley is trying desperately to improve position. Pace landing strikes, looking to finish! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A nice elbow there by Pace. Lashley is desperately trying to improve his position but Pace has a good base and remains in mount. Lashley gets back to half guard. Pace trying to control from half guard but Lashley is working away. Lashley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pace. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lashley is trying to control but can't.
Lashley is trying to get back to full guard. Lashley wants to get back to full guard but Pace has mounted him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pace putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Lashley can't escape the position.
Lashley is bucking up trying to escape but Pace cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Lashley tries to reverse the position but Pace maintains control. Pace blocks Lashley's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Pace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pace has control of Lashley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lashley regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pace misses with a head shot. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lashley can do anything to dispel that myth. Lashley manages to regain half guard. Good work. Pace wants to work for an arm triangle but Lashley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lashley is looking to improve his position.
Lashley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Pace trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lashley throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lashley striking off his back but it's not causing Pace any problems. Lashley wants to sweep here but Pace controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lashley misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pace tries for a takedown but Lashley circles away easily and Lashley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pace won't be happy with that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pace is trying to improve his position. Lashley lands a nice forearm strike. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Lashley dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lashley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lashley working Pace over with strikes.
Pace is rocked!
It looks like Ben Pace has been cut. Lashley is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Oh Pace is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Lashley lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Lashley looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Lashley scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lashley passes to side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lashley has knee on belly and moves into mount. Lashley jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pace is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pace and Lashley has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lashley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pace seems to have got his legs back now. Lashley blocks the strikes from Pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pace tries to improve position but can't. Pace sneaks back into half guard. Lashley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pace defends it well. Pace is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lashley's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lashley's back! Lashley tries to escape but Pace has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Lashley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Lashley manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pace's guard. Nice work there by Lashley.

Pace wants to get back to his feet but Lashley is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lashley drops back looking for a leg! Pace is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pace manages to kick Lashley off! Lashley jumps back into Pace's guard. Lashley cracks Pace with a solid left hand. Lashley landing with the ground and pound. Pace has momentary wrist control but Lashley slips an elbow through the middle. Lashley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pace is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pace landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lashley wants to improve his position but Pace is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pace is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Lashley manages to get to full guard. Lashley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lashley breaks from Pace's wrist control and lands an elbow. Lashley landing strikes, looking to finish!

Jeez, Ben Pace's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ben Pace's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
