Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Drake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, q a! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! a thuds his right hand into Drake's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. a scores with a body shot.
a closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Drake did well to prevent a getting side control. Drake is breathing heavily. Drake throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
a not doing much here.
Drake is looking for a sweep. a is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. a gets to his feet - back to striking we go! q a seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. a fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Drake avoids it really well and circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - a looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. a bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Drake can't do much from the bottom here. Drake tries to get back to half guard but can't. Drake is working hard here to advance position. a cracks Drake with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drake tries to get back to half guard but can't. Drake prevents a from improving position. Drake is positioning himself to get back to half guard. a working the head with strikes.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Drake avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Drake gets a takedown into half guard. a trying to control but Drake postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake missing with the ground and pound from half guard. a is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. a slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Drake throws a big right hand that misses. Drake in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. a looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Drake passes into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. a trying to control here.
Drake thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. a kicks Drake off and gets back to his feet. a misses with a series of wild punches.
a dodges the punch combination from Drake.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
q a dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
a clinches. Drake can't break the clinch.
Drake gets underhooks to prevent a's takedown attempt.
a prevents Drake from breaking the clinch. Drake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. a has his takedown stuffed so Drake counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. a working a defensive guard here.
Drake wants to control from the top but a keeps moving. a keeping full guard, as Drake tries to pass. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. a trying to control the position here. a looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Drake sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed a's guard. a trying to control from the bottom.
Drake passes the guard and advances to mount! A nice elbow there by Drake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. a is in all sorts of trouble here.
a is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. a manages to regain half guard. Good work. Drake decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. a checks a low kick from Drake. a closes the distance but Drake moves to the side and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. a looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Drake is fending him off so far but a persists. Nope, Drake circles away and we're back to standing. Mike Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of q a. a fails with the takedown. a tries for a takedown but Drake circles away easily and Drake counters with a slapping leg kick. a keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
a swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. a throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Drake throws a half hearted mid kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Drake fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but a is out of range. a throws a head kick that misses and Drake counters with an inside leg kick. Drake misses with a body kick. a is looking to clinch. Drake lets loose with a powerful body kick. a will feel that in the morning. a shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Drake manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Drake throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Drake dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
a with a lazy takedown attempt and Drake counters with a one-two to the body. a shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Drake counters with an outside leg kick.
A leg kick checked by a. Drake is looking to chop away at a's legs. a wants to clinch and Drake counters with a nice kick to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A shot to the body from a misses and Drake makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. a misses with a takedown and Drake counters with a nice leg kick. Mike Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of q a.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drake keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Drake buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mike Drake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. a throws a lazy body kick and Drake counters with a good low kick that a was not able to check. a doesn't manage to clinch there - Drake circles away.
Drake slips under a jab. a closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Drake did well to prevent a getting side control.

Drake won't allow a to pass to mount. a sitting and controlling from the half guard. a is looking to take a break and control but Drake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Drake won't allow a to pass to mount. a is trying to control the action in half guard but Drake is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Drake is trying to maintain the position but a is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Drake swats away the attempt to clinch by a. a doesn't succeed with the takedown and Drake counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. a is lucky that one didn't land flush. A clash of legs there as a blocks the low kick. a has his takedown stuffed and Drake counters with a nice low kick that buckles a's knee momentarily. a throws a shot from downtown. Drake moves away and avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. a gets a takedown into half guard. a prevents Drake from improving his position. Drake tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. a blocks the strikes from Drake.
Drake gets full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Drake wants to sweep but no luck. Drake is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. a breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to q a. I think a has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
