PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Packer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flex Stretcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flex Stretcher will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Packer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Flex Stretcher!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stretcher misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stretcher tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Packer swats away the attempt to clinch by Stretcher.

Packer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stretcher is trying to control Packer's posture but Packer avoids it.
Stretcher is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Packer is staying active.
Stretcher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Packer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A lull in the action here as Packer stalls from top position.
Packer is looking to take a break and control but Stretcher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stretcher tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Packer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Stretcher is not content to let Packer control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stretcher fails with the takedown

so Packer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stretcher manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Packer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Stretcher wants to finish this one by submission but Packer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stretcher.
Stretcher avoids the attempt from Packer to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stretcher is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Packer is surviving well by controlling Stretcher's body position as best he can.
Packer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Packer working to try and regain half guard.
Packer wants to control but Stretcher is having none of it.
Packer bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Stretcher manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Stretcher decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Packer wants to control but Stretcher is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Packer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Stretcher is keen to just control but Packer is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Stretcher decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Packer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stretcher is working away from the top position though.

Stretcher seems to be working for a kimura but Packer defends the submission attempt.
Packer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Packer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stretcher is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Packer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stretcher's back instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Packer is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Stretcher defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Packer is hanging on to Stretcher's back as he tries to escape.

Stretcher tries to roll but Packer sticks to his back.

Packer has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Stretcher tries to escape the position.
Packer misses with punches from the back.
Ken Packer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stretcher trying to control but not successfully.
Stretcher is really stuck here.

I really don't envy Stretcher right now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stretcher looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Stretcher wants to escape the position.
Stretcher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stretcher just trying to survive but Packer is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Stretcher is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Packer is aware though and is defending well.
Packer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Stretcher takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stretcher is squirming around, avoiding Packer's attempts to control the action.
Stretcher tries to lock up and control but Packer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Packer is landing with some decent strikes but Stretcher is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Packer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Stretcher turns into him and now he's in Packer's guard.

Stretcher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Packer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stretcher defends well.

Packer has his foot on Stretcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stretcher works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Packer is working an open guard so Stretcher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stretcher closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Packer takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Stretcher goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Packer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stretcher's guard! Nice work there by Packer!
Packer thows a big elbow that misses.
Packer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stretcher works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Stretcher is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stretcher has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Packer has passed into side control.

Well Packer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
