Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Sackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Leal! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leal is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Leal is looking to clinch. Sackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leal's waist but Leal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sackson off to one side. Sackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jose Leal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leal fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Sackson looks for a takedown but Leal sprawls well. Sackson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Some wild striking there from Sackson.

Leal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Leal slips a jab and a cross from Sackson.
A combination from Leal does no damage. Leal darts in and clinches Sackson up against the cage. Leal breaks from the clinch.
Leal scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sackson doesn't seem bothered though. Leal swinging wilding here.
Leal moves into the clinch successfully.
Leal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Leal stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Sackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Leal looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Leal clinches up with Sackson and pushes him back against the cage. Sackson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sackson manages to end up in side control. Leal defending against the ground and pound. Sackson is breathing heavily. Sackson wants to control but Leal is keeping him busy. Sackson tries for a kimura but Leal is defending well. Sackson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leal wants to get back to his feet. Sackson is looking to take a break and control but Leal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Leal is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sackson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sackson tries to move into range but Leal moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Leal tries to clinch up. Leal closes the distance and lands a one-two. Leal rushes Sackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sackson wants a takedown.
Leal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Leal throws a right and a left that Sackson avoids nicely. Leal closes the distance and clinches. Sackson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Leal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Leal tries to clinch up but Sackson circles away and keeps his distance. Sackson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Leal. Leal lands a two punch combo.
Sackson is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Leal circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Sackson to the canvas! Sackson doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Leal keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Leal!
