The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spitler throws a quick inside leg kick. Spitler shoots for a double leg takedown but Reddman sprawls well. He's pushed Spitler's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Reddman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spitler. Reddman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Spitler takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Spitler shoots for a takedown but Reddman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Noah Spitler. Spitler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reddman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Spitler prevents Reddman from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reddman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spitler is one step ahead there. Reddman keeping moving, preventing Spitler from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Reddman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spitler swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Reddman connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Spitler's hands. Reddman jabs at Spitler's body. Reddman changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Reddman looks to land a combination but Spitler avoids it well. Spitler dives in and grabs Reddman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reddman pushes down on Spitler's head and hops out. Reddman throws a series of punches but Spitler moves out of range. Some bone on bone action there as Spitler checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. No joy there for Reddman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Reddman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spitler is controlling him.

Spitler looking to sit in guard and control but Reddman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Spitler is pulling down on Reddman's head to control his posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
