Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pavel Kurakov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Bruxo!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurakov stuffs the takedown.
Kurakov tries a head kick but it misses.
Kurakov throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bruxo's head.
Bruxo shoots in looking for a takedown. Kurakov tries to sprawl out of it but Bruxo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kurakov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kurakov has Bruxo up against the cage in a clinch.
Kurakov working hard to break the clinch.
Bruxo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kurakov avoids it.
Bruxo tries for a takedown. No joy.
Pavel Kurakov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Bruxo.
Bruxo is looking to break free of the clinch but Kurakov has double underhooks.
Kurakov wants to break free but Bruxo has control.
Bruxo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bruxo manages to end up in side control.
Kurakov looking for a sweep but Bruxo has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Bruxo throws some wild stikes that Kurakov manages to avoid easily.
Kurakov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bruxo on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruxo wants to control the pace but Kurakov is squirming around nicely.
Kurakov tries to lock up and control but Bruxo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kurakov has given up his back here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurakov staying busy and making it hard for Bruxo to control.
Bruxo has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kurakov's body.
Kurakov tries to break free.
Bruxo is looking to control Kurakov but Kurakov is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kurakov can't escape the position.
Kurakov is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bruxo is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kurakov defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Kurakov won't enjoy being in this position. Bruxo looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Kurakov is tapping - it's over boys! Bruxo picks up the submission victory!
