PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Colby Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Colt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Come Out Swinging - Offspring. Colt has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Randy Savage has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Colby Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Randy Savage!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Colt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Colby Colt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Savage shoots for a double leg takedown but Colt sprawls well. He's pushed Savage's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Savage tries to clinch up.
Savage avoids a kick to the body.
Colt tries to clinch but Savage moves out of range.
Colt is breathing heavily.
Colt shoots in for a double leg but Savage sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Savage throws a right hand that Colt ducks under and follows up with a left that Colt also avoids with ease.
Savage shoots in looking for a takedown. Colt tries to sprawl out of it but Savage keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Colt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Savage gets the takedown into side control.

Savage tries for a kimura but Colt is defending well.
Savage scoring with punches and elbows.

Savage is looking to take a break and control but Colt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Savage is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Colt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Savage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Savage wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colt, who protects the arm well.
Colt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Savage on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Savage wants to control but Colt is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Savage in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Savage dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Savage looks for a takedown but Colt sprawls well.
Colt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Savage sprawls well. Savage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Colt gets slowly back to his feet.
Savage shoots in but no luck this time.

Savage shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
It looks like Savage is going to stand back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Savage decides to stand and escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Savage.
Colby Colt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Savage.

Savage moves into the clinch.
Savage is pushing Colt up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Savage pulls Colt into guard.
Savage trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Colt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Savage has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Colt has managed to get both his arms back between Savage's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Savage escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Colt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Savage is looking for a triangle but Colt pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Savage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Colt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Savage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Colt defends it nicely.
Colt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Savage shoots in but Colt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Savage tries to close the distance and clinch but Colt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Colt on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Savage. Savage obviously looking to wear him down.
Colby Colt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horrible takedown by Savage or perhaps it was just good defense by Colt which made him look bad.

Colt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Savage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Colt has managed to clinch.
Colt tries to pull guard but Savage won't allow it.
Savage tries to throw a body punch but Colt avoids it by throwing Savage back against the cage.

Savage is trying to break the clinch but Colt is controlling him.
Savage blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Colt is trying to maintain a safe position but Savage gets an underhook and turns Colt into the cage.

Savage keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Colt's efforts to push away.
Savage is struggling to control the position.
Colt is looking to break free of the clinch but Savage has double underhooks.
Nice body punch from Colt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Savage breaks the clinch.
Colt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Savage.
Colt misses with a kick to the body.
Colt misses with a wild combination.
Savage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Colt defends it nicely.
Colt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Savage closes the distance and clinches up with Colt, looking for a takedown. Savage pushes Colt against the cage but Colt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Colt moves into the clinch.
Colt is looking to break free of the clinch but Savage has double underhooks.
Savage managing to block the knees to the body from Colt.
Savage lands a knee to the head.

Colt tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Savage letting Colt take a breather here.
Colt trying to control the position but instead, Savage has worked for underhooks and has pushed Colt into the cage.
Savage lands with a short shot to the head.
Savage jumps guard but Colt stands there with Savage around his waist. Savage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Colt as Savage tries to tie him up.
Savage avoiding damage as Colt throws knees to the body.
Savage drops down looking for an ankle pick but Colt pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Savage counters with a one-two to the body.

Savage takes the fight into the clinch.
Colt wants to get back to striking at distance but Savage won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Savage landing knees to the head.
Savage wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Randy Savage is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Colt wants to break free but Savage has control.
A hook to the body from Colt.
Colt gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Savage.
Colt tries to circle away but Savage has him pinned against the cage.
Colby Colt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Colt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Savage tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Colt swivels and escapes.
Savage moves out of range as Colt strikes.
Savage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Colt defends it nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Savage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Savage fails to land the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
Colby Colt showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Savage has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
