PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrew Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teddy Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Jones!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bear manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Jones cracks Bear with a solid left hand.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bear preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones passes Bear's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Jones decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Jones throws and elbow that misses. Bear uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Bear!

Jones looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bear puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Jones has a hand on Bear's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bear takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jones is just holding on here. Bear manages to take his back.

Bear is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Jones is defending well though. Bear let's go of the attempt for now.
Bear is breathing heavily.
Bear keeps control of the position as Jones tries to break free.

Jones rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bear. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones tries to score with some ground and pound. Bear controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Bear is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jones has managed to clinch.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bear!
Jones lands a heavy elbow.

Andrew Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Bear which made him look bad.

Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bear is controlling him.
Jones doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Bear stopping the sweep attempt from Jones.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones is trying to keep Bear in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

A nice elbow there by Jones.
Jones looking to control but Bear is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jones throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Bear because Jones loaded up on that one.
Jones connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jones controlling the pace for now.
Jones throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Jones is going olschool here, as he tries to force Bear to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bear shrugs it off.
Jones looking to ground and pound but Bear is blocking nicely.
Bear is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.
Jones misses with a head shot.

I would just about give that final round to Andrew Jones.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
