Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerimiah Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tomas Rios! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rios pinned against the cage. Rios gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rios looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rios is looking to clinch. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ward. Rios misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ward shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerimiah Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rios throws a head kick that misses. Ward closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rios circles away. Ward drops Rios with a nice combination! Ward dives into Rios's guard, looking to finish!

It looks like Tomas Rios has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ward trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rios is still in real trouble! Can Ward finish him? Rios seems to have recovered his senses. Ward seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ward wants to stand but Rios has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rios takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Ward shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rios as he avoids it easily. Ward fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rios throws a body kick that misses. Ward shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rios but Rios pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ward throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Ward tries to clinch and Rios counters with a flying knee. Nice. Ward is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward shoots in for a double leg but Rios sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nice sprawl there from Rios as Ward shoots in. Rios throws a head kick that misses. Ward lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ward is looking to clinch. Ward moves in looking to clinch but Rios pushes him off. Rios throws a head kick but Ward moves out of range.

Tomas Rios seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rios throws a combination that misses and Ward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rios swivels and escapes. Ward shoots in for a takedown but Rios shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ward walks into a stiff left hand from Rios.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ward tries to clinch but Rios moves away and Rios counters with a low kick, right behind Ward 's knee. Ward shoots and misses and Rios holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. A frustrated look appears on Rios's face as he tries to break the clinch. Rios has had enough of the clinch but Ward keeps him there for the moment. Ward is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rios pulls him back up using the underhooks. Rios ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rios no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Ward wants to control from the top but Rios keeps moving. Ward knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rios on the ground. Rios wriggles free and stands up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rios throws a head kick that misses and Ward connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ward looks for a takedown but Rios sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerimiah Ward dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tomas Rios's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward. Rios takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Ward shoots in but Rios avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerimiah Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rios misses with a hook. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ward tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Rios counters by clinching up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ward is trying to drag Rios to the mat but Rios just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Rios manages to break the clinch.
Ward misses with a takedown attempt and Rios holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Ward on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rios is pressed up against the cage. Ward has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rios down to the mat. Rios avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Rios throws a lazy head kick and Ward counters with a right hand to the body. Ward catches Rios with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Ward misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A head kick misses from Ward. Rios throws a lazy head kick and Ward counters with a solid body kick. Rios throws a sloppy head kick letting Ward counter with a right hand. Jerimiah Ward is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Ward counters with a leg kick. Ward lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Ward doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rios counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rios jumps guard.
Ward wants to control from the top but Rios keeps moving. Rios working a defensive guard here.
Rios pushes Ward off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rios forces Ward back against the cage and clinches. Rios is looking to break free of the clinch but Ward has double underhooks. Ward looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Rios stops a takedown attempt from Ward.

Ward is trying to reverse the position but instead Rios has taken his back - oops!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward trying to control the hands but Rios won't let him. Rios really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ward. Ward trying to control but not successfully. Rios controlling the position well here. Ward rolled but Rios kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tomas Rios showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Tomas Rios's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Ward stalks Rios and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rios's face. Rios staggers backwards, shaken. Rios clinches with his opponent.
Ward wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rios breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rios stuffs the takedown attempt from Ward. Ward gets slowly back to his feet. Ward darts in trying to clinch and Rios counters with a single leg into guard. Ward didn't expect that. Rios has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ward is proving hard to escape from. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ward manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rios is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Ward throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Rios is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Rios tries to get back to half guard but can't. Ward can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rios is looking to escape. Rios is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rios can't escape the position.
Rios wants to get back to his feet.
Ward thowing shots but they're missing. Ward trying to control but he's not successful this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rios defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ward.
And that's the end of the fight! Tomas Rios comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Rios has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
