Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Nazario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and General Ice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronaldo Nazario has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo Nazario!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, General Ice!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nazario throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ice was covering up waiting for the punch and Nazario finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nazario postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ice uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Ice bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ice working away.
Nazario tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nazario is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ice asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ice stands up and beckons Nazario to his feet.
Ice misses with a few strikes there.
Ice is looking to clinch.

Ice gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Nazario trying to control but Ice is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ice pushes Nazario off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Ice looks gassed!
Ice wants to clinch up but Nazario keeps it at a distance.
Nazario shoots in for a takedown but Ice shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Nazario closes the distance and clinches.
Ice gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nazario.
Ice is looking to break free of the clinch but Nazario has double underhooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nazario is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ice pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldo Nazario. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nazario misses with a knee to the head.
Nazario tries to pull guard but Ice holds him up against the cage and eventually Nazario drops back down to his feet.
Ice is looking to break free of the clinch but Nazario has double underhooks.
Nazario keeps control of Ice as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Nazario is working for takedown but Ice is calmly controlling the position for now.

Nazario breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ice decides to stand back up. Ice steps back and let's Nazario get back to his feet.
Nazario avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nazario checks the leg kick.
Ice rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nazario moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ice tries to clinch but Nazario moves out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nazario tries to pull guard but Ice holds him up against the cage and eventually Nazario drops back down to his feet.
Nazario keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ice's efforts to push away.
Nazario tries a knee to the head but Ice blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

General Ice dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ice misses with a takedown attempt - Nazario sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Nazario closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nazario wants to stand up but Ice is controlling the position.

Nazario is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nazario wants to take a breather but Ice is having none of it.
Ice is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nazario wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ice keeps working.
Nazario is really struggling to control Ice but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nazario throws a head kick but Ice moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nazario.
Ice fails to land with a series of punches.
Nazario slips a jab and a cross from Ice.
Ice swinging wilding here.
Nazario just misses with a punch to the body.

Nazario gets a takedown into half guard.

Ice makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ice looks to land a combination but Nazario avoids it well.
Nazario is looking to slow Ice down with leg kicks.

Nazario closes the distance and clinches.
Nazario has Ice pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ice manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nazario drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ice gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldo Nazario. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nazario goes for a takedown attempt but Ice pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Ice closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ice lands in his opponent's guard.
Nazario looking for a sweep. Not yet Nazario, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ice stops Nazario from standing up.

Ice stands up and waves to Nazario to follow him.
Nazario throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ice lands a two punch combo.
Nazario tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ice sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nazario somewhat.
Jab, jab by Ice - just one landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but General Ice will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A head kick by Ice misses
and Nazario counters with an outside leg kick.

Nazario looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ice!
Nazario tries to control but Ice wriggling away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nazario is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ice is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Ice squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Ice is squirming around, avoiding Nazario's attempts to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ice wants to try and get back to his feet.

Nazario wants to finish this one by submission but Ice is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Nazario.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ice's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Nazario looking to control but Ice is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Nazario throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nazario connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ice really wants to buck Nazario off and get back to his feet.
General Ice is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
General Ice has got the better of the ground game so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nazario controlling from mount.
Ronaldo Nazario has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Poor strikes thrown by Nazario there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Ronaldo Nazario showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ice has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
