Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Greco Roman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurt Jones! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Jones tries to clinch there but Roman circles away.
Jones is looking to clinch. Jones wants to clinch. Jones is looking to clinch but Roman is avoiding it.
Roman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Roman postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Jones keeping full guard, as Roman tries to pass. Roman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jones keeping full guard, as Roman tries to pass. Jones seems keen to control Roman's posture. Roman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Roman postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roman's guard. Roman lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones! Roman controlling from the full mount. Jones wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Roman prevents Jones from getting the reversal. Jones is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Roman sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to improve his position but Roman isn't that keen on the idea. Jones looks gassed! Jones wants to control but Roman is having none of it. Roman controlling from the full mount. Jones is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Roman gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Roman fails with the takedown. Roman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Roman sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to control but can't.
Roman controlling the pace. Roman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Roman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Greco Roman just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Roman moves into the clinch. Roman pulls Jones into guard.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Roman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Roman forces his way into half guard. Roman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Roman trying to control the pace. Jones is looking to improve his position.
Roman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Jones tries to get to full guard but Roman has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greco Roman dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jones clinches but Roman breaks the clinch and Roman counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that. Roman passes into half guard. Roman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Roman controlling the action here. Roman trying to mount his opponent but Jones defends it. Roman wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it. Roman content to control rather than advance. Jones trying to hold on to Roman's head to control him but Roman postures up.
Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Roman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman prevents Jones from getting back to his feet. Roman stays in close to Jones's body and controls the position. Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roman is one step ahead there. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jones is breathing heavily. Roman stopping the sweep attempt from Jones. Roman gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Roman moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Roman has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately. Roman stopping the sweep attempt from Jones. Roman postures up.
Jones keeping full guard, as Roman tries to pass. Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet. Roman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Roman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jones has control of Roman's left arm, preventing Roman from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jones tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Roman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Jones wants to control but Roman is having none of it. Jones throwing punches despite being mounted. Jones wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Roman looking to control and managing it successfully. Jones is trying to escape the mount.
Jones is squirming around, avoiding Roman's attempts to control the action. Roman prevents Jones from getting the reversal. Roman controlling from the full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Greco Roman just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Jones closes the distance looking to clinch and Roman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Roman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Roman lands a knee to the head.
A short body shot lands from Jones as the two fighters clinch.
Roman tightens his grip and picks Jones up, before dumping him to the ground. Jones manages to land in guard. Roman wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greco Roman dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Jones wants to clinch but Roman slips to the side and Roman moves into the clinch. Roman gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jones regains guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Roman passes Jones's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Roman slows the pace down in half guard. Jones looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jones wants to improve his position but Roman is controlling well.
Roman is working for a submission of some sort.
Roman wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well. Greco Roman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones missing with punches from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Roman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily. Jones darts in trying to clinch and Roman counters with a nice double leg into guard. Roman passes easily into side control. Nice work. Roman avoids the strikes from the bottom by Jones. Jones wants to get back to his feet but Roman drags him back down. Jones manages to get back to half guard. Kurt Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roman trying to control the pace. Jones tries to kick Roman off but Roman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Roman in particular looking to stall. Jones missing with punches from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! Greco Roman showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
