Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rory Shachner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Bodybag! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shachner takes one on the button.
It looks like Rory Shachner has been cut. Bodybag connects with the punch. Bodybag lands a body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shachner takes one to the side of the head.
Bodybag listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Johnny Bodybag seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bodybag throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bodybag throws a right and a left that both miss. No luck for Shachner with that takedown attempt. Bodybag misses the jab. Bodybag misses with a looping left. Bodybag jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bodybag moves in looking to clinch but Shachner pushes him off. Shachner gets the takedown into side control. Bodybag is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shachner is controlling him well. Bodybag prevents Shachner from improving position. Bodybag explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Bodybag tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bodybag fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shachner shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bodybag is trying to defend but Shachner finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bodybag has one foot on Shachner's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Shachner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bodybag is looking to stand up but Shachner isn't so interested in that idea. Bodybag looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shachner is one step ahead there. Bodybag wants to stand but Shachner is controlling the position. Bodybag looks gassed! Shachner trying to control the position from guard on top but Bodybag is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bodybag manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bodybag cracks Shachner with a right hand to the side of the head. Bodybag misses with a two punch combination.
Shachner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bodybag defends it nicely. Shachner swats away the attempt to clinch by Bodybag. Shachner gets the takedown into side control. Bodybag is looking to get back to his feet here but Shachner is keeping cool and he's managed to take Bodybag's back. Bodybag holding both Shachner 's hands and preventing any damage. Shachner has his opponent's back but Bodybag is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Shachner.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Bodybag misses the target. Shachner closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bodybag did well to prevent Shachner getting side control. Bodybag pushes Shachner off looking to stand but Shachner dives back in and keeps control.
Bodybag tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Shachner passes to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Shachner is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bodybag has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Bodybag is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Bodybag in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. You get the feeling that Bodybag really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bodybag tries to improve his position but Shachner has taken his back! Shachner has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Bodybag tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Shachner pushes Bodybag away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
