Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fabricio Stalin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Muir! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stalin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Muir defends it nicely. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Muir scores with a jab. Stalin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
It looks like Fabricio Stalin has been cut. Muir misses with a double jab.
Muir pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Muir stuffs the takedown. Stalin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stalin gets the takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Stalin wants to control but Muir is keeping him busy. Muir wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Stalin lands an elbow. Muir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stalin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Stalin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Muir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Muir is trying to get back to his feet. Muir is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Stalin tries for a kimura but Muir is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stalin looks up at the clock and then as Muir takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stalin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Muir is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Stalin has just dragged him back down to the mat. Stalin controls the position. Muir throws Stalin to one side and escapes! Muir misses with a straight right. Stalin shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Stalin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stalin moves out of range as Muir strikes. Muir slaps away a takedown attempt from Stalin, before circling back to the center of the mat. Stalin is breathing heavily. Stalin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Muir but Muir pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stalin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Muir lands with a hook. Stalin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Fabricio Stalin's cut is getting worse. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Muir connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Stalin tumbling to the canvas! Muir pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Stalin was done - good stoppage!
