PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Koshcheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MrBogus Eater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eater is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Got Money (Featuring T. Pain) by Lil Wayne. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eater shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Koshcheck as he jumps to the side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Eater is defended easily by Koshcheck.
Eater fails with a takedown attempt.
Paulo Koshcheck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of MrBogus Eater.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koshcheck tries to clinch up.

Eater closes the distance looking to clinch

and Koshcheck counters with a nice double leg into side control. Eater won't be happy with that.
Eater tries to control but Koshcheck manages to take his back.
Eater trying to control the hands but Koshcheck won't let him.
Eater controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad spot.

Eater tries to break free.
Eater is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Koshcheck controlling the position well here. Eater rolled but Koshcheck kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Koshcheck is not going to allow Eater to sit and survive in this position.
Eater is holding onto Koshcheck's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.

Koshcheck controls the position.
Eater has hold of Koshcheck's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Koshcheck gets his hands free as Eater looks to control.
Koshcheck is trying to stick to Eater's back but Eater is turning into Koshcheck. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Koshcheck's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Eater.
Koshcheck is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Koshcheck decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A head kick from Koshcheck lands but Eater takes it in his stride.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Eater fails with the takedown

and Koshcheck counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Koshcheck counters with a single leg into guard. Eater didn't expect that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eater is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Eater has his foot on Koshcheck's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koshcheck works his way back into a safe position though.
Koshcheck really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Eater is breathing heavily.

Koshcheck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Eater is looking to stand up but Koshcheck isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Koshcheck misses with a takedown attempt - Eater sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Koshcheck looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Koshcheck moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Eater misses with a leg kick

and Koshcheck counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Eater pushes Koshcheck off and scrambles back to his feet.

Eater fails with the takedown
and Koshcheck counters with a big head kick but Eater shrugs it off.
Eater circles away from the clinch attempt.
Koshcheck shoots in for a takedown but Eater shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Koshcheck. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Eater misses with a leg kick
and Koshcheck counters with a two punch combo.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Koshcheck scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Koshcheck in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Eater holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Koshcheck gets to mount! Eater was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Koshcheck tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paulo Koshcheck dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Eater throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Koshcheck counters with a two punch combo.

A low kick from Eater is predictable there
and Koshcheck counters with a series of strikes. Eater will be more careful next time no doubt.

Eater shoots in for a takedown but Koshcheck shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Eater takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Koshcheck will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Koshcheck prevents Eater from escaping the position.
Eater prevents Koshcheck from moving into mount.
Eater is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Eater's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Horrible takedown by Eater or perhaps it was just good defense by Koshcheck which made him look bad.

Koshcheck darts in and clinches Eater up against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Eater drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Paulo Koshcheck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of MrBogus Eater.

Koshcheck's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Paulo Koshcheck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Eater looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Koshcheck is fending him off so far but Eater persists. Nope, Koshcheck circles away and we're back to standing.
Eater misses with a low kick as Koshcheck jumps back.
Koshcheck shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eater pinned against the cage. Eater gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Koshcheck goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paulo Koshcheck showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Koshcheck has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
