PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Malik Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastion Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle has chosen Gonna Fly Now as his entrance music. Malik Carr has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malik Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sebastion Castle!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Castle looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Castle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Castle gets caught flat footed, as Carr shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Carr advances position into side control!
Carr slows the pace down.

Carr tries for a kimura but Castle is defending well.

Carr looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Castle's face as Carr controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Castle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Carr controls the position from side control.
Carr throws a strike aimed at the side of Castle's head but Castle avoids it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Carr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Castle has escaped the position, nice work there.
Castle defending against the ground and pound.
Carr working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Carr sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Castle is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carr is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Castle has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Carr swings around for an armbar but Castle sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Carr's guard.
Carr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Carr looking for a guillotine here but Castle defends easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carr is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malik Carr dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Castle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Carr thows a big elbow that misses.
Carr controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Castle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carr passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Castle is breathing heavily.
Carr missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Carr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Carr seems to be working for a kimura but Castle defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carr in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Carr is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carr is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Carr throwing shots but Castle is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Carr has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Castle defend it? Carr steps over the head and cranks it - Castle is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Carr!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Malik Carr!
