Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Simmons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Silva! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Simmons sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Simmons is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Silva is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Simmons jumps into side control! Silva is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Simmons wants to stand but Silva has his arm trapped. Silva is looking to reverse the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Simmons swivels and escapes. Simmons is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Frank Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simmons tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Simmons gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Simmons is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Simmons which made him look bad. Simmons wants to clinch. Silva looks for a takedown but Simmons sprawls well. The fight stays on the outside here - Simmons looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Simmons tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Simmons's waist but Simmons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side. Bobby Simmons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Silva. Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Silva with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Silva has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Simmons escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Simmons! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Simmons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Silva tries to pass the half guard into mount. Simmons knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Silva is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Simmons has managed to free his arm - good work.
