Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boo Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svensson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smithers pinned against the cage. Smithers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Svensson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Smithers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smithers lands in his opponent's guard.

Smithers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Svensson is trying to control the position but Smithers postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Svensson controls Smithers momentarily but Smithers frees himself.
Smithers postures up in Svensson's guard and throws a big left but Svensson blocks it.

Smithers passes Svensson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Smithers blocks the strikes from Svensson.
Svensson is staying active underneath Smithers, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Smithers.

Smithers working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Smithers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Svensson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smithers.

Smithers content to control rather than advance.
Svensson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smithers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smithers is keen to just control but Svensson is a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smithers stalling.

Smithers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Svensson is just riding it out for now. Smithers eventually gives up the hold.
Smithers is looking to advance position but Svensson won't allow it.
Smithers is thwarting Svensson's attempts to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smithers prevents Svensson from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Svensson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Smithers to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Svensson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Smithers pulls down on the head and he's put Svensson to sleep! This one is all over!
