The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grey blocks a head kick by Atogwe.

Atogwe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Grey.

Atogwe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Grey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Atogwe paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Atogwe looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ashoe Atogwe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Atogwe looks to score with a jab to the body but Grey is just out of range.

Atogwe is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Grey has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Grey misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Grey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Atogwe tries to escape but Grey is in control.
Grey postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Grey lands a nice forearm strike.
Grey throws a strike aimed at the side of Atogwe's head but Atogwe avoids it well.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Grey takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Atogwe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grey manages to avoid it.
Atogwe swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Grey tries to clinch but Atogwe is having none of it.

Grey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Atogwe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Grey throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Grey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Atogwe is just riding it out for now. Grey eventually gives up the hold.
Grey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Grey lands a nice short elbow.
Grey scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Grey has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Atogwe defend it? Grey steps over the head and cranks it - Atogwe is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Grey!
