PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wheeler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harrison Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wheeler's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, New World Awaits. Lopez comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tupac - Hit em up' kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lopez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wheeler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lopez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wheeler tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lopez swivels and escapes.
Lopez throws a body punch but Wheeler moves out of range.
Wheeler misses with a wild combination.
Wheeler shoots in but Lopez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wheeler lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lopez backs up against the cage.
Wheeler goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Harrison Lopez has been cut.
Lopez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wheeler throws a nice looking combination but Lopez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A clash of legs there as Lopez blocks the low kick.
Wheeler misses with the combination.
Good leg kick by Lopez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Lopez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lopez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Wheeler tries to circle away but Lopez has him pinned against the cage.
Wheeler tries to break the clinch but Lopez is controlling the position.
Wheeler is looking to break free of the clinch but Lopez has double underhooks.
Wheeler lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Lopez wants to get back to striking at distance but Wheeler won't allow it.
Wheeler is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Wheeler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wheeler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lopez.
Wheeler is breathing heavily.
Wheeler keeps the fight on the outside.
Lopez throws a front kick that sends Wheeler stumbling back into the cage.
Lopez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lopez tries to clinch but Wheeler is having none of it.
Lopez scores with a nice head shot.
Lopez throws a body punch but Wheeler moves out of range.
Wheeler walks into a jab.

It looks like Ryan Wheeler has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wheeler takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Lopez doesn't manage to clinch there - Wheeler circles away.
Lopez lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Wheeler sprawling to the canvas. Lopez follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Wheeler hang on?

Wheeler is rocked!

Lopez decides to stand and escape the position.
Oh Wheeler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wheeler walks straight into a right hand from Lopez - that's dropped him! Lopez jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Wheeler from any more punishment! Wheeler complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
