Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, daniel micheals! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! micheals decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. micheals is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. micheals trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom. micheals must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. micheals got a little sloppy there for a moment and Miller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, micheals has managed to get both his arms back between Miller's legs - danger averted. micheals throws and elbow that misses. Miller uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in micheals's guard. Nice move by Miller! micheals looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. micheals trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. micheals swivels though and keeps the full guard. micheals keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. micheals is trying to control the position but Miller postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Miller trying to control but micheals is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Miller stalks micheals and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into micheals's face. micheals staggers backwards, shaken. micheals lands with a nice body punch. daniel micheals seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. micheals throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miller was covering up waiting for the punch and micheals finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller is breathing heavily. micheals looking to pass the guard. Miller keeping moving, preventing micheals from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. micheals tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard. Miller wriggles free and stands up. micheals lands a nice looking body kick. A head kick from micheals lands but Miller takes it in his stride. Miller throws the left hand but micheals avoids the punch easily. Miller with a lazy takedown attempt and micheals counters with a straight right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. micheals lands a head kick. Miller smiles back at him and beckons him forward. micheals shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Miller keeping moving, preventing micheals from controlling successfully. Miller is looking for a triangle here but micheals uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Miller is being controlled here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
daniel micheals dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
micheals tries to close the distance and clinch but Miller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Miller drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. micheals looks to move to half guard but instead Miller has passed into mount! Damn! Miller seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but micheals is holding on tight.
micheals is looking to improve his position but Miller isn't that keen on the idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller lands a big shot there that rocks micheals but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
micheals tries to buck Miller off but he can't manage it. Miller sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. micheals is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. micheals is squirming around, avoiding Miller's attempts to control the action. micheals really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Miller raining down shots from the mount! Miller looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. micheals tries to hold on but Miller pushes him away. micheals takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. micheals wants to control but Miller is having none of it. Miller with a couple of short strikes. Miller avoids the attempt from micheals to control. Miller stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. micheals throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Miller's waist but Miller gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing micheals off to one side. Miller gets the takedown into side control. micheals is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Miller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, micheals has escaped the position, nice work there. Miller lands a few punches from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Miller dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
micheals punishes Miller's body with a nice straight punch. Miller defends well against a solid takedown attempt from micheals. micheals will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Miller clinches. micheals fails to pull guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. micheals has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Miller uses from the top position. micheals wants to stand and escape but Miller is having none of it. micheals working a defensive guard but Miller passes into half guard.

Miller stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. micheals tries to close the distance and clinch up but Miller swats him away and circles back towards the center. micheals tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Miller counters with a lovely straight right hand!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. micheals wants to clinch and Miller counters with a lovely straight right hand! micheals tries to clinch up and Miller counters with a left to the body. micheals shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. micheals showed some decent athleticism there. micheals wants to pass the guard but Miller is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. micheals thows an elbow strike that misses. Miller gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. micheals doesn't seem too bothered but Miller quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! micheals is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! micheals really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.
