Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magdaleno Leonardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leonardo comes to the cage accompanied by Pose. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leonardo fails with a takedown attempt.
Aoki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leonardo's waist but Leonardo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aoki off to one side.

and Aoki counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Aoki.
Leonardo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aoki defends well.
Aoki wants to pass the guard but Leonardo is keeping the position.

Aoki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Leonardo sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Leonardo has his foot on Aoki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aoki works his way back into a safe position though.
Leonardo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aoki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aoki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Aoki drops back looking for a leg! Leonardo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Leonardo manages to kick Aoki off! Aoki jumps back into Leonardo's guard.
Leonardo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Leonardo is on top in guard.
Leonardo is breathing heavily.
Leonardo drops back looking for a leg! Aoki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aoki manages to kick Leonardo off! Leonardo jumps back into Aoki's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aoki working for a triangle but Leonardo defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Leonardo advances to half guard.
Aoki looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Leonardo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Aoki!
Aoki is looking to improve his position but Leonardo isn't that keen on the idea.
Leonardo trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Leonardo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Aoki has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Aoki keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Leonardo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Aoki can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leonardo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aoki actively working from the bottom here.
Aoki is looking to improve his position.
Aoki avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leonardo.
Leonardo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Leonardo prevents Aoki from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Leonardo misses with a hook. Aoki ducked under it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shinya Aoki dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Leonardo shoots in and drives through. Aoki sprawls well.
