Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Murray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Struck!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Struck as he jumps to the side.

Murray moves into the clinch successfully.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Struck is leaning against Murray and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Murray drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Good body shot from Struck.
Murray tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Struck avoids it.
Murray landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Murray tries to land knees in the clinch but Struck avoids the damage to the body.
Struck is trying to break the clinch but Murray has him pressed against the cage.
Murray tries to pull guard but Struck won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Murray. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Murray tries to close the distance and clinch but Struck swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Murray tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Murray takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Murray tries to clinch but Struck is having none of it.
Murray could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Struck tries to close the distance and clinch but Murray swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Struck counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Murray's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Struck connects with a couple of short punches.
Murray is looking to stand up but Struck isn't so interested in that idea.
Struck slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Struck passes Murray's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Murray on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Murray is trying to maintain the position but Struck is very close to passing his half guard.
Struck seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Murray pushes Struck off looking to stand but Struck dives back in and keeps control.
Struck controlling the action here.
Struck missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Murray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Struck on the ground.
Murray tries to roll over but Struck keeps him under control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Struck closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Struck lands in his opponent's guard.

Murray is working an open guard so Struck takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Struck tries to close the distance and clinch but Murray swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Murray is looking to escape.

Struck is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Struck moves into the clinch.

Struck has clasped his hands together around Murray's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Struck creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Struck has hold of one of Murray's legs. Murray is fighting the takedown attempt but Struck gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Struck is breathing heavily.

Struck closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Murray is trying to maintain the position but Struck is very close to passing his half guard.
Murray is trying to get back to full guard.

Struck scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Struck is thwarting Murray's attempts to control the position.
Murray is trying to stand back up but Struck is controlling him
Murray wants to control but Struck is keeping busy.
Struck tries to pass to full mount but Murray defends it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Struck connects with a nice short shot to Murray's temple.

and Struck holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Struck can't get the takedown.
Murray is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Struck looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murray is one step ahead there.
Murray is looking to stand up but Struck won't let him.

Struck pushes Murray off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Murray clinches but Struck breaks the clinch

and Struck counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Struck has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Murray wants to get up but he can't break Struck's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Murray has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Darren Struck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Murray is pressed up against the cage. Struck has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Murray down to the mat. Murray avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Struck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Still in half guard, Struck seems content to control.
Murray is trying to stand back up but Struck is controlling him

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Struck seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Murray is trying to control but Struck manages to pass to mount!
Murray tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Struck working for a submission but Murray is keeping him at bay.
Murray's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The referee warns Murray that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Struck controlling from mount.
Murray keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Murray is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

You get the feeling that Murray really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Murray tries to hold on but Struck pushes him away.

Struck lands with some strikes.
BOOM! Struck connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Murray wants to control but Struck is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Struck.
Murray is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Struck lands a nice shot to the head.
Struck controlling his opponent.
Joe Murray has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Darren Struck is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Darren Struck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Struck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
