Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zac Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Kawells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jefferson comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome To The Jungle. Zac Jefferson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zac Jefferson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Kawells!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawells tries to move into range but Jefferson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Kawells doesn't manage to clinch there - Jefferson circles away.
Kawells tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jefferson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jefferson tries for a takedown but Kawells sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jefferson shoots in looking for a takedown. Kawells tries to sprawl out of it but Jefferson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kawells manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kawells as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zac Jefferson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jefferson throws a nice looking combination but Kawells bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kawells instigates a clinch.
Kawells landing knees to the body.
Kawells scores with a knee to the head.

Kawells breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jefferson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kawells avoids it really well and circles away.
Jefferson is breathing heavily.

Kawells clinches up against the cage.
Kawells is stalling here.
Jefferson can't get the takedown.

Kawells's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kawells moves into range and clinches up with Jefferson.

Kawells gets control of Jefferson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kawells will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jefferson won't allow Kawells to get back to his feet.

Jefferson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kawells is just riding it out for now. Jefferson eventually gives up the hold.
Kawells controlling the position for now.

Kawells pushes Jefferson off looking to stand but Jefferson dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jefferson is thwarting Kawells's attempts to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kawells drives through and clinches with Jefferson against the cage.

Kawells is trying to trip Jefferson. He has hold of a leg but Jefferson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kawells persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kawells gets to his feet. Jefferson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jefferson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kawells wants to clinch up but Jefferson keeps it at a distance.
Jefferson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kawells pinned against the cage. Kawells gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kawells displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jefferson.

Jefferson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kawells sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jefferson somewhat.

Kawells moves into the clinch.
Jefferson tries to score a body lock takedown but Kawells shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kawells jumps guard.

Kawells is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Jefferson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kawells breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jefferson tries a low kick but Kawells avoids it.
Kawells is looking to clinch.
Zac Jefferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jefferson throws a series of punches but Kawells moves out of range.
Jefferson loads up on a big right hand but Kawells slips the punch.
Jefferson throws a right and a left that Kawells avoids nicely.

Kawells clinches with his opponent.
Kawells crunches a lovely knee into Jefferson's ribcage.
Jefferson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kawells is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kawells is stalling here.

Kawells has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jefferson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Kawells is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kawells has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Kawells is hanging on to Jefferson's back as he tries to escape.
Kawells cracks Jefferson with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Jefferson from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
You can see the frustration on Jefferson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Jefferson tries to break free but Kawells pushes him back against the cage.

Jefferson has Kawells pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kawells manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kawells has his feet on Jefferson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Kawells counters with a solid body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Kawells showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Jefferson jumps guard but Kawells stands there with Jefferson around his waist. Jefferson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kawells ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kawells no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kawells is on top in guard.

Jefferson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kawells doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kawells manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kawells decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jefferson, up you get!

Kawells not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jefferson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kawells defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jefferson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kawells's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Kawells slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kawells wants to stand but Jefferson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kawells has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jefferson is proving hard to escape from.

Oh but Jefferson is tightening it up a little... Kawells has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kawells reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kawells taps out! nice BJJ there by Jefferson!
