Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane MacKallister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane MacKallister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Williams!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but MacKallister paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Williams doesn't manage to clinch there - MacKallister circles away.

MacKallister closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Williams gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Shane MacKallister has been cut.
MacKallister tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Williams smiles and moves away.
Williams tries to clinch but MacKallister moves away
and MacKallister counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Williams counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Williams.
The referee calls for MacKallister to work.
MacKallister lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Williams gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from MacKallister.
Williams wants a takedown but no success here.
Williams has MacKallister pressed against the cage.

MacKallister is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
MacKallister tries to pull guard but Williams holds him up against the cage and eventually MacKallister drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane MacKallister. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
MacKallister wants to break free but Williams has control.

Williams turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Williams content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
MacKallister tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
MacKallister gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
MacKallister is breathing heavily.

Williams wants to free his trapped foot but MacKallister is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Williams escapes and gets back to his feet.
Williams closes the distance but MacKallister moves to the side

and MacKallister counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Williams!
Williams really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shane MacKallister will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Williams darts in and clinches MacKallister up against the cage.

MacKallister has had enough of the clinch but Williams keeps him there for the moment.

Williams drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Williams connects with a nasty looking knee right to MacKallister's face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Williams takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The crowd are getting on Williams's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

MacKallister is trying to force a seperation but Williams has the dominant position.
Williams lands an elbow that stopped MacKallister in his tracks for a moment.
MacKallister takes a knee to the side of the body.
MacKallister tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Williams connects with a knee to the head.
Williams tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
MacKallister working hard to break the clinch.
MacKallister is pushing Williams up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

MacKallister wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Williams crunches a lovely knee into MacKallister's ribcage.
MacKallister tries to circle away but Williams has him pinned against the cage.
MacKallister is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Williams using the Thai plumb to throw knees but MacKallister has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
MacKallister tries a body shot but Williams blocks it.

Williams manages to pull guard.
Williams is pulling down on MacKallister's head. It's preventing any offense from MacKallister, at least for the moment.

Williams wants to stand but MacKallister is controlling the position.
Williams wants to sweep here but MacKallister controlling him for the moment.
MacKallister wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

MacKallister looking to sit in guard and control but Williams gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Williams won't allow MacKallister to sweep him here.
Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

MacKallister escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Williams stays in close to MacKallister's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Shane MacKallister overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Despite being in the dominant position, Matt Williams just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Williams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

MacKallister moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off.

Shane MacKallister showed his dominance in that final round.
I think MacKallister has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
