Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Marks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joey Marks will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tyler Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Marks!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Davies working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Marks looking to pass the guard.
Marks is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Marks advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davies moves into full guard.
Marks sitting in guard here, content to control.
Marks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davies is keeping the position for now.
Davies preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Marks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davies has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marks has managed to get both his arms back between Davies's legs - danger averted.
Marks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Marks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davies looking for subs off his back but Marks has passed one foot through into half guard.
Davies looks like he's trying to stand up.
Marks frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Marks has hold of Davies's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Davies manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Davies is squirming around, avoiding Marks's attempts to control the action.
Marks controlling the position easily from mount.

Marks gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Davies tries for a takedown but Marks circles away easily

and Marks counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Davies!
Davies is breathing heavily.

Marks is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Davies has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Davies!
Marks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Davies got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davies has managed to get both his arms back between Marks's legs - danger averted.

Marks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davies gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Marks trying to keep a closed guard but Davies is proving a slippery customer.

Davies is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Davies sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marks's guard.
Marks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marks wants to control but Davies is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marks is trying to stand.
Marks slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Marks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davies can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Davies passes Marks's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Marks tries to get to full guard but Davies has control of the leg.

Davies seems to be working for a kimura but Marks defends the submission attempt.
Marks makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Marks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Marks dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Marks gets the takedown into side control.
Marks looking to control but instead Davies has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

Davies actively working from the bottom here.
Davies pushes Marks off looking to stand but Marks dives back in and keeps control.
Marks takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Davies might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Marks is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Marks is trying to control. Davies wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davies is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Marks scores with a couple of nice shots.
Marks wants to pass the guard but Davies is defending well.

Marks is looking for a kimura but Davies is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marks to get the leverage.
Marks moves nicely into side control.

Marks working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Marks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Davies, who protects the arm well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davies tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Marks stands up and beckons Davies to his feet.
Tyler Davies is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Marks tries to clinch but Davies is having none of it.

and Davies counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Marks throws his legs up looking for a submission but Davies uses it to pass to side control.
Marks regains half guard.
Marks works his way to full guard. Good work.

Marks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davies manages to get himself to full guard.
Marks trying to control the position from guard on top but Davies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Marks landing some decent shots from guard.

Davies is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marks is aware though and is defending well.
Marks content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Marks stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Marks shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Marks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Davies is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Joey Marks will probably get the nod - 10:9.

A decent looking cross lands there for Marks.

Marks closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Davies did well to prevent Marks getting side control.
Marks with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Davies works his way to full guard. Good work.

Davies looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Marks with a couple of short strikes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Marks trying to control but Davies is having none of it.

Davies has given up his back here. Will Marks look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Davies rolls, trying to escape but Marks keeps control of the position.
Marks biding his time, looking for the opening.
Davies is keeping busy.

Davies is in a bad position with Marks working for a choke. Davies manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Marks has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Davies should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Marks has tightened it up now! Davies should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
