Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jigoro Kane! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Milo Phillips! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kane lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Kane lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Phillips backs up against the cage.
Phillips misses with a hook. Kane ducked under it nicely. Phillips throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A left lands for Kane. Kane ducks right into an uppercut from Phillips. Kane stuffs the takedown attempt from Phillips. Phillips gets slowly back to his feet. Phillips misses with an uppercut. Kane saw that one coming. Phillips ducks under a wild hook from Kane. Phillips takes one to the side of the head.
Phillips slips under a jab from Kane. Kane throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Phillips on the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Phillips staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillips tries to clinch there but Kane circles away.
Jab by Kane. Kane misses with an uppercut. Jigoro Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kane moves into range and connects with a jab. Phillips shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kane defends it nicely. Jigoro Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Milo Phillips. Phillips fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Phillips throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kane counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Phillips was well out of range. Poor timing from Kane. Kane walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Phillips checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Phillips looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Phillips has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Phillips there as he acknowledges the shot.
Phillips is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kane dances in with a quick combination. Phillips is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Kane snaps Phillips's head back. Phillips stumbles backwards against the cage. Kane steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Phillips's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Phillips just didn't come prepared.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jigoro Kane! Jigoro Kane retains his welterweight title!
