Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pete Doherty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tor Nansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doherty comes to the cage accompanied by You can't stand me now. Nansen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Prodigy - Thunder. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doherty shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Nansen throws a sloppy head kick and Doherty moves out of range easily. Doherty connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Doherty lands the left hand. Nansen checks a leg kick. Doherty throws a leg kick which misses Nansen's front leg but catches the back leg as Nansen tries to avoid it. Nansen lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Nansen scores with a takedown into Doherty's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doherty has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nansen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Doherty is trying to keep Nansen in close.
Doherty looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nansen puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doherty has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nansen is working away from the top position though. Doherty is looking to improve his position.
Doherty won't allow Nansen to pass to mount. Doherty wants to improve his position but Nansen is controlling well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Doherty throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nansen thows a leg kick but Doherty checks it and Doherty counters with a good low kick that Nansen was not able to check. Nansen throws a sloppy body shot
and Doherty counters with a low kick, right behind Nansen 's knee. Doherty lands a head kick!
Nansen throws a hook to the side of Doherty's head but Doherty sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A punch combination from Nansen misses. Nansen takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Nansen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nansen is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Doherty takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Nansen takes a swing at Doherty's ribcage but misses. Nansen thows a left - swing and a miss! Nansen swings and misses with a shot to the body and Doherty counters with a thumping low kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doherty takes one to the chin there. Nansen tries a head kick but it misses.
Doherty scores a takedown into full mount! Doherty controlling from mount. Doherty can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nansen is looking to escape. Doherty punching from mount but Nansen doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nansen can't escape the position.
Nansen wants to control but Doherty is having none of it. Doherty looking to control and managing it successfully. Doherty trying to control but Nansen is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Doherty dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Nansen walks into a jab. Nansen checks the leg kick nicely there.
Nansen with a poor takedown and Doherty counters with a lovely shot to the body. Tor Nansen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nansen is looking to chop away at Doherty's legs. Nansen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Doherty makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Doherty lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Nansen looks to score with a jab to the body but Doherty is just out of range. A combination from Nansen does no damage. Doherty gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Nansen throws a hook but Doherty blocks it. Doherty lunges at Nansen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nansen's hand. Doherty keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Doherty tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nansen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Doherty.
Doherty turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Doherty chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Nansen scores with a crisp jab that stopped Doherty in his tracks. Doherty throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Nansen moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Doherty scores with a takedown into Nansen's guard. Doherty working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Doherty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nansen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nansen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doherty trying to control but Nansen is working from the bottom. Doherty wants to pass the guard but Nansen is keeping the position. Nansen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Doherty controls the pace. Nansen has his foot on Doherty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doherty works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Doherty lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. A telegraphed right hand from Doherty misses the target. Doherty throws a head kick that Nansen semi-blocks.
Pete Doherty is winning the standup battle so far. Nansen looks for the body kick but Doherty saw that one coming. Doherty takes one to the chin there. A chopping leg kick lands by Doherty. Doherty tries a low kick but Nansen avoids it. A slapping leg kick lands for Doherty.
Nansen throws a shot from downtown. Doherty moves away and avoids it. Doherty throws a lazy body kick and Nansen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Nansen wants to take a breather but Doherty is having none of it. Nansen lands with a punch from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nansen trying to control from half guard but Doherty is working away. Nansen wants to advance to full mount but Doherty doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Doherty is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nansen is aware though and is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Doherty is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Doherty trying to keep a closed guard but Nansen is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jab, jab by Nansen - just one landing. Doherty uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nansen. Tor Nansen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Doherty pivots, looking for a leg kick but Nansen is out of range and Doherty settles back down. Nansen lands with an uppercut that bounces Doherty off the cage and back into rage. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Doherty, right into the meat.
Doherty fails with a takedown attempt. Nansen lands an overhand right. Nansen throws a head kick that misses. Nansen on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Doherty moves away from the strike by Nansen. Nansen missing with a left hand there. Doherty was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nansen misses with a takedown attempt and Doherty counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doherty smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Doherty misses the shot to the body. Doherty swings away with a leg kick that misses. Nansen tries to close the distance and clinch but Doherty swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Doherty turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Doherty scores with a jab to the jaw. Nansen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Doherty.
Nansen's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Doherty chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Doherty scores a takedown into full mount! Doherty tries to control but Nansen wriggling away. Nansen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doherty sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Nansen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Nansen is squirming around, avoiding Doherty's attempts to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nansen can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doherty looking to control but Nansen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Doherty is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Nansen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Nansen! Doherty controls Nansen momentarily but Nansen frees himself. Doherty is really struggling to control Nansen but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nansen is looking to work some ground and pound but Doherty has wrist control. Nansen tries to free his leg and advance position but Doherty is retaining full guard. Doherty looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Nansen has picked Doherty up and slammed him! Doherty can't keep hold of the triangle and Nansen manages to pass to side control! Nansen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Nansen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Doherty manages to work his way to half guard, despite Nansen's best efforts. Doherty is looking to improve his position.

Pete Doherty clearly takes that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Nansen with a poor takedown and Doherty counters with a low kick, right behind Nansen 's knee. Nansen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Doherty is looking to reverse the position. Doherty can't do much from the bottom here. Nansen looking to control but instead Doherty has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Doherty actively working from the bottom here. Doherty keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doherty tries to roll over but Nansen keeps him under control. Doherty wants to control but Nansen is keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nansen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Doherty is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nansen pulls his head out easily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nansen misses with a looping left. Nansen scores with a jab to the jaw. Nansen misses the body punch and Doherty counters with a leg kick. Nansen tries to clinch up. Doherty shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Doherty showed some decent athleticism there. Nansen moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nansen throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Nansen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Doherty is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nansen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Doherty's back instead. Nansen is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Doherty wants to control his opponent's hands but Nansen gets his hands free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Doherty breaks Nansen's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Doherty is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Doherty makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Doherty pushes down on Nansen's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Doherty tries to pass to full mount but Nansen defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nansen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Doherty tries to get back to half guard but can't. Doherty is trying to control Nansen's posture but Nansen avoids it. Nansen is looking to take a break and control but Doherty is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Doherty's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nansen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. A shot to the body from Nansen misses and Doherty connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nansen throws a leg kick and Doherty cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nansen looks to land a right hand but Doherty moved out of range. Some bone on bone action there as Nansen checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Doherty feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Nansen's calf. A head kick from Doherty lands but Nansen takes it in his stride. Doherty throws a half hearted mid kick. Nansen misses with a looping right. Doherty throws a hook but Nansen blocks it. A slow jab from Doherty misses its intended target. Nansen misses with a body shot.
Nansen takes a swing at Doherty's ribcage but misses. Nansen moves out of range of the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doherty feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Doherty's corner is telling him to maintain position. Doherty wants to control from the top but Nansen keeps moving. Nansen working for a triangle but Doherty defends it easily.
Nansen is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Doherty trying to control the position from guard on top but Nansen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nansen keeping full guard, as Doherty tries to pass. Doherty trying to control but Nansen is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Doherty slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pete Doherty. Well Doherty has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
