PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pedro Omar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Omar!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Omar.

Bell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Omar to the mat! Omar manages to get full guard.
Omar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Omar wants to sweep here but Bell controlling him for the moment.
Omar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bell's guard.
Bell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Omar is controlling him.
Omar looking to pass the guard.
Omar pushing down on Bell's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Omar thows a huge punch but Bell dodges it nicely.
Still in half guard, Omar seems content to control.
Omar wants to pass the guard but Bell is defending well.
Bell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bell tries to get out of the position.
Omar throwing shots but Bell is blocking nicely.
Omar missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Omar thows a huge punch but Bell dodges it nicely.
Omar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Omar tries to pass to full mount but Bell defends it.
Bell is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Omar trying to control from half guard but Bell is working away.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Omar with a poor takedown

and Bell counters with a shoot takedown. Omar fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bell wants to stand but Omar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Omar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Omar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bell's guard.
Bell is trying to keep Omar in close.
Bell keeping moving, preventing Omar from controlling successfully.
Bell wants to stand but Omar is controlling the position.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Omar's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Bell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Omar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Omar wants to control but Bell is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omar tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Omar sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bell is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Omar with the ground and pound but Bell regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Omar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Omar passes to full mount!
Bell wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Omar.
Bell is breathing heavily.
Omar scoring with strikes but Bell is staying in there.
Omar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bell is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pedro Omar will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Bell shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Omar trying to control but Bell postures up.
Bell wants to stand but Omar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Omar trying to control here.
Bell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Omar on the ground.
Omar slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Bell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Omar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bell wanted to stand there but Omar had control of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Omar looking for a sweep. Not yet Omar, not yet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Omar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Omar is looking to take a break and control but Bell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Omar is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bell is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pedro Omar!
