Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Conlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rashid Irvins! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conlin misses with a hook. Irvins ducked under it nicely. Kevin Conlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conlin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Irvins was well out of range. Poor timing from Conlin. Irvins shoots in but no luck this time. Conlin throws a jab when Irvins was well out of range. Irvins fails with the takedown. Irvins uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Conlin. Conlin loads up on a big right hand but Irvins slips the punch. Irvins closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Conlin tries to circle away but Irvins has him pinned against the cage. Conlin tries to break the clinch but Irvins is controlling the position. Conlin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Irvins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Irvins wants to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Conlin wants to get back to striking at distance but Irvins won't allow it.
Conlin really is a fat lump. Irvins stalls. Conlin is trying to force a seperation but Irvins has the dominant position. Irvins scores with a knee to the head.

Conlin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Irvins. Irvins shoots in for a double leg but Conlin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Conlin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Irvins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Irvins had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Conlin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Irvins Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Conlin's back instead.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Irvins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Conlin swivels and escapes. Conlin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Conlin is trying to force a seperation but Irvins has the dominant position. Irvins with a knee to the head.

Rashid Irvins dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kevin Conlin's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Conlin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Conlin scores with a punch to the head. Conlin waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Irvins. Irvins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Conlin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Irvins somewhat. Conlin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Irvins trying to control but Conlin is working from the bottom. Conlin doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Conlin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Irvins pulls guard effortlessly. Irvins has a closed guard, preventing Conlin from standing up. Conlin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Irvins works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Conlin gets to his feet. Irvins looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! A swing and a miss from Conlin. Irvins avoids a punch combination nicely.
Conlin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Conlin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Irvins to score an easy takedown into full guard. Conlin has his feet on Irvins's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
