McGillicutty comes to the cage accompanied by "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" by The Dropkick Murphys. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stoneface McGillicutty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rusty Everson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Everson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McGillicutty is trying to defend but Everson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Everson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGillicutty does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McGillicutty wants to improve his position but Everson is controlling well.
Everson tries to pass to full mount but McGillicutty defends it.
Everson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McGillicutty regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Everson.
Everson controls from within his opponent's guard.

McGillicutty looking to hit a scissor sweep but Everson is one step ahead there.
Everson lands a couple of elbows.

Everson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
McGillicutty utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Everson wants to control from the top but McGillicutty keeps moving.

Everson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGillicutty swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Everson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McGillicutty's guard.

Everson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McGillicutty is now in Everson's guard. A big mistake from Everson there, giving up the dominant position!
Everson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGillicutty's guard.

Everson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Everson throws a strike but McGillicutty rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Everson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Everson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McGillicutty!
McGillicutty is squirming around, avoiding Everson's attempts to control the action.
