Kernes has chosen Apocalyptica - Nothing Else Matters as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lynn Kernes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kernes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stacey pinned against the cage. Stacey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kernes shoots in but Stacey avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stacey feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kernes's calf.
Lee Stacey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kernes avoids the head kick by Stacey.
Stacey throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Lynn Kernes has been cut.
Stacey scores with a head kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Horrible takedown by Kernes or perhaps it was just good defense by Stacey which made him look bad.
Lee Stacey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lynn Kernes.

Stacey is looking to work some ground and pound but Kernes has wrist control.
Stacey has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kernes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kernes doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Stacey trying to control but Kernes is working from the bottom.
Kernes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Stacey stands up over Kernes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stacey postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Stacey looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Kernes looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stacey controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kernes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kernes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stacey.
Stacey passes Kernes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Stacey is taking a breather. Kernes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Stacey slips a nice elbow through Kernes's hands, connecting with Kernes's forehead.
Stacey throwing shots but Kernes is blocking nicely.
Kernes missing with punches from the bottom.
Kernes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stacey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stacey's back!

Stacey rolls, trying to escape but Kernes keeps control of the position.
Stacey is working hard here to advance position.
Stacey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kernes on the ground.

Stacey is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kernes gets his way!

Kernes throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Stacey tries to escape the position.
Kernes misses with punches from the back.

Stacey won't enjoy being in this position. Kernes looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Stacey is tapping - it's over boys! Kernes picks up the submission victory!
