Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Lagozzi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Franjo Tuce! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Lagozzi as Tuce shoots in. Nice jab there from Lagozzi.
It looks like Franjo Tuce has been cut. Lagozzi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Lagozzi misses with a wild combination.
Tuce drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Tuce preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tuce wants to pass the guard but Lagozzi is keeping the position. Lagozzi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tuce is one step ahead there. Tuce won't allow Lagozzi to get back to his feet. Tuce trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Lagozzi trying to strike off his back.
Lagozzi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lagozzi prevents Tuce from improving his position. Lagozzi tries to stand and escape but Tuce is controlling the position. Tuce is refusing to be controlled, as Lagozzi sits in half guard. Lagozzi wants to stand up but Tuce has a hold of him and won't allow it. Tuce is looking for a sweep. Lagozzi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lagozzi is thwarting Tuce's attempts to control the position. Tuce is looking to improve his position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tuce feints and as Lagozzi raises his hands in defense, Tuce changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Lagozzi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lagozzi looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tuce sitting in guard, not really doing much. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tuce is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Tuce looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lagozzi looking to control.
Lagozzi keeping moving, preventing Tuce from controlling successfully. Tuce is pushing down on Lagozzi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lagozzi is fighting to maintain full guard but Tuce has managed to sneak the leg through. Tuce in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lagozzi tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Tuce!
