Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joaquim Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Yamamoto! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamamoto shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Costa defends it nicely. Yamamoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Yamamoto shoots for a takedown but Costa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Joaquim Costa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daisuke Yamamoto. Yamamoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Costa but Costa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Yamamoto shoots for a takedown but Costa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Yamamoto looks gassed! Yamamoto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Costa sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Costa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yamamoto's guard. Costa tries to free his leg and advance position but Yamamoto is retaining full guard. Costa advances position into side control! Costa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Costa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Costa tries for a kimura but Yamamoto is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto is looking to regain half guard here but Costa keeps moving and retains side control. Costa advances to full mount. Costa is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Yamamoto is surviving well by controlling Costa's body position as best he can. Costa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Yamamoto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Yamamoto is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Costa has taken his back.
Costa is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Yamamoto is tapping out! This one is all over!
