Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cosme Capetto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Fennessy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fennessy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Drowning Pool - Bodies. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cosme Capetto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Fennessy!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fennessy instigates a clinch.
Capetto misses with a knee strike.

Fennessy gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Capetto blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fennessy.
Fennessy is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Capetto reverses the position - he's now on top in Fennessy's guard.
Fennessy keeping moving, preventing Capetto from controlling successfully.
Capetto wants to pass the guard but Fennessy is keeping the position.
Fennessy wants to stand up but Capetto is controlling him.
Fennessy is striking from the bottom but Capetto uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Fennessy is trying to stand back up but Capetto is controlling him

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fennessy punching from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fennessy throws a right and a left that Capetto avoids nicely.

Fennessy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Capetto sprawls well initially but Fennessy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Capetto trying to control from the bottom.
Fennessy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Capetto keeps working.

Fennessy stands up and beckons Capetto to join him on the feet.
Cosme Capetto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fennessy throws a leg kick but Capetto sees it coming and moves out of range.

Fennessy feints and as Capetto raises his hands in defense, Fennessy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fennessy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Capetto wants to clinch

and Fennessy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Fennessy has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Capetto regains guard immediately.
Capetto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fennessy on the ground.
Capetto is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Capetto is working an open guard so Fennessy takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Fennessy darts in and clinches Capetto up against the cage.
Fennessy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Capetto's efforts to push away.

Fennessy breaks the clinch.

Fennessy moves into range and clinches up with Capetto.

Fennessy manages to break the clinch.

Fennessy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fennessy scores with punches from side control.

Fennessy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fennessy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Fennessy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Capetto some visible discomfort.
Fennessy creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Fennessy trying to control the position but Capetto is working away.

Fennessy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Capetto to his feet.

Fennessy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Fennessy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fennessy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Capetto, pushing him back against the cage.

Fennessy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fennessy scores with a takedown into Capetto's guard.
Fennessy cracks Capetto with a solid left hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fennessy lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Fennessy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Fennessy dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Fennessy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fennessy stands up and beckons Capetto to his feet.
Capetto throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fennessy lands with a nice body punch.

Fennessy clinches up against the cage.
Fennessy lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Fennessy breaks from the clinch.
Capetto takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fennessy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fennessy rushes Capetto and presses him up against the cage.

Fennessy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cosme Capetto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fennessy lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Capetto sprawling to the canvas. Fennessy follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Capetto hang on?


It looks like Cosme Capetto has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fennessy thows a huge punch but Capetto dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fennessy scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Fennessy sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Capetto defending well though.

Fennessy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Capetto is just riding it out for now. Fennessy eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fennessy decides to stand and escape the position.

Fennessy drops Capetto with a nice combination! Fennessy dives into Capetto's guard, looking to finish!


Capetto is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fennessy advances to half guard.
Fennessy uses his free foot to push down on Capetto's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Capetto.
Fennessy in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Capetto in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Fennessy cracks Capetto with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The referee warns Capetto that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Fennessy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Capetto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fennessy working for a guillotine from mount but Capetto is in no mood to give up.

Fennessy lands a heavy elbow.
Fennessy landing punches.
Fennessy raining down shots from the mount!

BOOM! Fennessy connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Oh Capetto is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fennessy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Capetto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Capetto seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fennessy trying to control but Capetto is having none of it.

Fennessy jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Capetto manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Fennessy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fennessy decides to stand back up. Fennessy steps back and let's Capetto get back to his feet.

Fennessy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Fennessy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Cosme Capetto's cut.
That's time! Capetto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Fennessy thumps Capetto with a low kick.
Capetto wants to clinch but Fennessy slips to the side

and Fennessy counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Fennessy gets to his feet - Capetto follows without any prompting.
Fennessy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Capetto. That did some damage!

Fennessy gets a clinch.

Fennessy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fennessy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fennessy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Capetto's head.

Fennessy has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Capetto defend it? Fennessy steps over the head and cranks it - Capetto is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Fennessy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chris Fennessy!
