Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, van chan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Stone! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stone keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Stone tries to close the distance and clinch up but chan swats him away and circles back towards the center. Stone swings away with a leg kick that misses. Stone misses the jab. Stone wants to clinch up but chan keeps it at a distance. Stone fails in his attempt to clinch. Stone misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stone pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stone swings for the body but chan moves out of range.
Stone misses with a few strikes there.
John Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stone tries to clinch but chan is having none of it. chan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. chan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stone knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. chan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stone's head. chan wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy. Stone looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stone tries to roll over but chan keeps him under control. chan prevents Stone from standing back up.
chan is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stone has managed to free his arm - good work. chan is looking to advance position but Stone won't allow it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. chan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Stone lands a high kick!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stone tries a head kick but it misses.
John Stone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Stone is looking to clinch but chan is avoiding it.
chan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Stone swats away the attempt to clinch by chan. Stone doesn't manage to clinch there - chan circles away.
Stone takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Stone throws a right and a left that both miss. chan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stone looks gassed! Stone throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Stone tries to clinch up but chan circles away and keeps his distance. Stone misses with a two punch combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stone fakes high and swings low for a body shot but chan manages to avoid it. Stone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
chan shoots in and bounces Stone off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. chan drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. chan seems to have locked his on tight now - Stone screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for chan, as he picks up the win!
