PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shiroi Neko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Hydraulix 13.5 - D.A.V.E. the Drummer & Alex Calver. Neko has chosen Machine Head - Halo as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shiroi Neko!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie defending well as Neko loads up on a big left hand.
Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Neko.
Gracie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Neko manages to avoid it.
Gracie cracks a nice hook into Neko's ribs.
A big left from Neko misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gracie.
Gracie working the body and head with strikes.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Neko has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gracie working the strikes but Neko uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Gracie passes to side control.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Neko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Neko gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie misses with a head shot.
Gracie throws a sloppy strike and Neko uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Neko has ended up in Gracie's guard.
Neko trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is trying to control the position but Neko postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neko slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie trying to control the position.
Gracie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Neko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie has a closed guard, preventing Neko from standing up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Neko takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gracie throws the left hand but Neko avoids the punch easily.
Neko circles away from the clinch attempt.
A punch combination from Gracie misses.

Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gracie staying calm.
Neko manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie wants to get back to full guard but Neko has mounted him!
Gracie is desperately trying to improve his position but Neko has a good base and remains in mount.
Neko looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gracie wants to control but Neko is having none of it.
Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Neko scores with a jab. Gracie acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Neko throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Neko but Neko pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gracie lands a body shot.
Aaron Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neko lands a big right hand that sends Gracie crashing to the mat! Neko stays standing though and waves Gracie back to his feet!


Gracie is rocked!


It looks like Aaron Gracie has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie jabs Neko right on the nose. Neko blinks but takes it well.
Gracie throws a looping overhand right but Neko ducks down to avoid it.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Neko.
Neko throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gracie on the side of the head.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Neko scores with a shot to the body.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.
Neko misses with a looping right.
Neko tries a head kick but it misses.
Neko connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Neko throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gracie counters with a one-two to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Neko takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Neko scores with a decent looking hook.
Neko fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gracie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good shot there by Neko.
Neko might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Neko sends Gracie crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Neko is motioning to the referee to let Gracie up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Neko jabs at Gracie's body.
Neko finds Gracie's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Gracie flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Neko lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Gracie will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Shiroi Neko!
