Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Enio Munhoz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabe Gonzaga! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzaga closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Munhoz to the mat! Munhoz manages to get full guard. Munhoz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Gonzaga drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gonzaga jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gonzaga is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzaga is pushing down on Munhoz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Munhoz is fighting to maintain full guard but Gonzaga has managed to sneak the leg through. Gonzaga is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Munhoz defends it well. Gonzaga is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Munhoz sees it coming and defends easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzaga is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gonzaga is working for a kimura but Munhoz is defending it quite comfortably.
Gonzaga is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munhoz is refusing to be controlled, as Gonzaga sits in half guard. Gonzaga seems to be working for a kimura but Munhoz defends the submission attempt. Gonzaga is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gonzaga looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Munhoz wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gonzaga maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Munhoz could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gonzaga has cracked it and Munhoz is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gonzaga!
