Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Gailfus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eder Munhoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eder Munhoz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Gailfus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eder Munhoz!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gailfus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Munhoz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Munhoz is looking to regain half guard here but Gailfus keeps moving and retains side control.

Munhoz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Munhoz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Gailfus is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Munhoz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gailfus pulls his head out easily.

Gailfus stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Munhoz to get to his feet.

and Gailfus counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Munhoz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gailfus gets to his feet - Munhoz follows without any prompting.
Gailfus throws a head kick but Munhoz moves out of range.
Gailfus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gailfus is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Munhoz's half guard.

Munhoz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gailfus pulls his head out easily.
Gailfus is keen to just control but Munhoz is a slippery customer.

Gailfus looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Munhoz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gailfus decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A lazy left from Gailfus finds it's target.
Munhoz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Gailfus closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Munhoz to the mat! Munhoz manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munhoz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gailfus pulls his head out easily.

Gailfus throws a nice looking combination but Munhoz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Gailfus shoots in and bounces Munhoz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gailfus decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Munhoz counters with a single leg into guard. Gailfus didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gailfus controls Munhoz momentarily but Munhoz frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Gailfus dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gailfus closes the distance and clinches up with Munhoz, looking for a takedown. Gailfus pushes Munhoz against the cage but Munhoz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gailfus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gailfus can't get the takedown.

Munhoz jumps into guard, dragging Gailfus to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Munhoz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gailfus is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gailfus is in close to Munhoz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gailfus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Munhoz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gailfus has managed to get both his arms back between Munhoz's legs - danger averted.
Gailfus wants to stand but Munhoz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gailfus's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gailfus wants to control from the top but Munhoz keeps moving.

Gailfus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gailfus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Munhoz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Munhoz is working an open guard so Gailfus takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Gailfus holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Munhoz pulls Gailfus into guard.
Gailfus advances to half guard.
Gailfus has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Munhoz tries to reverse the position but Gailfus maintains control.

Gailfus sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Gailfus manages to capitalize on a mistake by Munhoz to take his back!
Munhoz is trying to break free.
Munhoz staying busy and making it hard for Gailfus to control.
Gailfus has Munhoz flattened out and is raining down punches.
What can Munhoz do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Munhoz rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Munhoz is in trouble now - Gailfus has advanced to mount!
Gailfus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Munhoz is looking to escape.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Gailfus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Munhoz is trying to defend but Gailfus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Munhoz looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Gailfus pushes past his half guard into mount!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
BOOM! Gailfus connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Gailfus breaks from Munhoz's wrist control and lands an elbow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Munhoz is squirming around, avoiding Gailfus's attempts to control the action.

Gailfus has hold of Munhoz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Munhoz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Munhoz manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Gailfus cracks Munhoz with a big right hand but Munhoz just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Munhoz wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Gailfus has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Munhoz's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Munhoz is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Gailfus!
