The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balcita just misses with a punch to the body.
Moreau misses with a takedown attempt - Balcita sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Moreau scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moreau throws the kick towards the body but Balcita avoids it.
Balcita wants to clinch up but Moreau keeps it at a distance.

Jay Balcita seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moreau closes this distance looking for a takedown but Balcita circles away.

Balcita breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moreau throws a nice looking combination but Balcita bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Moreau shoots in for a double leg but Balcita sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Moreau makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Balcita had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Moreau is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Balcita Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Moreau's back instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Moreau is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Balcita gets his way!

You can see the frustration on Moreau's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Balcita is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Moreau is defending well though. Balcita let's go of the attempt for now.
Moreau is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
