PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake The Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). White has chosen Rick Derringer - I am a real American as his entrance music. Ron White is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake The Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ron White!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Snake moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

White rushes The Snake and presses him up against the cage.
White gets underhooks to prevent The Snake's takedown attempt.
White can't get the takedown.
White wants to break the clinch but can't.

White is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. The Snake can't fight it off and eventually White manages to take the fight to the floor. The Snake looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
White in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
White wants to control from the top but The Snake keeps moving.
The Snake wants to sweep but no luck.
White trying to control but The Snake is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now The Snake is on top in guard.
The Snake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Snake trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
White is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The Snake stays in close to White's body and controls the position.

White has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Snake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The Snake tries to free his leg and advance position but White is retaining full guard.
The Snake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.
White has his hands on The Snake's head, controlling the position.

White looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Snake trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
White wants to sweep but no luck.
The Snake trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

White had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. The Snake is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. White Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take The Snake's back instead.
White looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The Snake trying to control the hands but White breaks the grip.
The Snake turns into White and is now in his guard.
The Snake postures up and lands a big shot to White's brow.

The Snake avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Snake slips nicely into half guard.
The Snake wants to pass to mount but White is defending the position.
White manages to get to full guard.

White has his foot on The Snake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. The Snake works his way back into a safe position though.

White had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. The Snake is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. White Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take The Snake's back instead.

White is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. The Snake knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften The Snake for a finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White not allowing The Snake to control his hands.
Will White go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Snake wants to get back to his feet.

White is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. The Snake is defending well though. White let's go of the attempt for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
White trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron White dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The Snake throws a head kick that misses.

White gets the takedown into side control.

White wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Snake, who protects the arm well.

White tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no White has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The Snake is looking to reverse the position.
The Snake is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, White asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White trying to control the position but The Snake is working away.

White swings around for an armbar but The Snake sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into White's guard.

The Snake throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as White works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The Snake stopping the sweep attempt from White.

The Snake got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The Snake has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
White keeping full guard, as The Snake tries to pass.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for White. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
White is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The Snake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The Snake throwing strikes from guard but White blocks nicely.

White misses with an elbow to the head.
White has the hooks in. The Snake is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The Snake staying busy and making it hard for White to control.

White controlling the position well here. The Snake rolled but White kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The Snake has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
The Snake tries to escape the position.

White has both hooks in and is working for a choke. The Snake is in real trouble here. White gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, The Snake is tapping out! White wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ron White!
