Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carter Veroni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocha leaves Veroni with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rocha decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rocha sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Veroni defending well though.
Veroni is refusing to be controlled, as Rocha sits in half guard.
Veroni is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rocha pulls his head out easily.

Rocha is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Veroni is just riding it out for now. Rocha eventually gives up the hold.
Veroni is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Rocha pulls his head out easily.

Rocha is trying to work for a kimura but Veroni is defending well.
Veroni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Veroni could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rocha is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Veroni looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rocha lands a nice short elbow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rocha is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rocha is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Veroni looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Rocha pushes past his half guard into mount!
Rocha is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Veroni can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rocha cracks Veroni with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rocha controlling the pace for now.
Veroni really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rocha working for a submission but Veroni is keeping him at bay.

Rocha pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

A nice elbow there by Rocha.
Veroni tries to reverse the position but Rocha maintains control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Veroni is in a horrible position here. Rocha smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rocha looking for a guillotine from mount but Veroni is having none of it.
Veroni can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rocha is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Rocha extends the arm and Veroni is forced to tap!
