Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jukko Hamalainen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samson Grabowski! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grabowski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hamalainen slips a straight right by Grabowski. Hamalainen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hamalainen is looking to take a break and control but Grabowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hamalainen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hamalainen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grabowski tries to buck Hamalainen off but Hamalainen is having none of it. Grabowski is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Grabowski struggling a bit here. Grabowski is looking to reverse the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Grabowski is pushing Hamalainen's head away, looking to escape. Hamalainen manages to hold on to the position though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hamalainen. Grabowski misses with a wild combination.
Hamalainen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Grabowski throws a head kick but Hamalainen moves out of range.
Grabowski looks to land a right hand but Hamalainen moved out of range. Grabowski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Grabowski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hamalainen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hamalainen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Grabowski gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hamalainen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Grabowski clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Grabowski is trying to get back to his feet but Hamalainen has full control of the position and if anything, Grabowski has just worked his way into a worse spot. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grabowski avoids the strikes from Hamalainen. Grabowski controlling Hamalainen 's hands. Grabowski trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Hamalainen patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Hamalainen looking for the choke from the back. Hamalainen is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Grabowski tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Grabowski tries to reverse the position but Hamalainen maintains control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hamalainen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Grabowski is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Grabowski and Hamalainen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Grabowski holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Grabowski is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hamalainen asserts his dominance and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grabowski looks to score with a jab to the body but Hamalainen is just out of range. Grabowski misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Grabowski tries to land a leg kick but Hamalainen saw it coming and moves away.
Hamalainen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grabowski swats him away and circles back towards the center. Grabowski lands a body shot.
Grabowski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hamalainen moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hamalainen looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hamalainen closes the distance and clinches up with Grabowski, looking for a takedown. Hamalainen pushes Grabowski against the cage but Grabowski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Grabowski tries a head kick but it misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Grabowski lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Hamalainen sprawling to the canvas. Grabowski follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Hamalainen hang on?

It looks like Jukko Hamalainen has been cut. Grabowski tries to stand and escape but Hamalainen actually recovers to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hamalainen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Grabowski stands up from guard. Let's bang! Grabowski throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Grabowski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hamalainen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grabowski can do anything to dispel that myth. Grabowski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hamalainen is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grabowski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hamalainen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hamalainen's back! Grabowski really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Hamalainen. You can see the frustration on Hamalainen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grabowski doesn't have the hooks in and Hamalainen manages to turn into his guard.
Grabowski wants to sweep here but Hamalainen controlling him for the moment. Grabowski pulls Hamalainen in close to prevent any damage. Grabowski looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hamalainen puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hamalainen is looking to take a break and control but Grabowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Grabowski wants to improve his position but Hamalainen is controlling well.

Hamalainen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Good exchange - Grabowski coming out on top. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Grabowski looks to land a right hand but Hamalainen moved out of range. Grabowski buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Samson Grabowski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Grabowski fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hamalainen. Hamalainen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
