PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Tuffnuts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Joey Tuffnuts has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joey Tuffnuts seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Tuffnuts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Charles!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles throws out a loose jab but Tuffnuts uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tuffnuts slips a straight right by Charles.

Tuffnuts scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Tuffnuts with the ground and pound but Charles uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Tuffnuts thows a big elbow that misses.
Charles looking to control.
Charles avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Charles controls Tuffnuts momentarily but Tuffnuts frees himself.
Tuffnuts sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Charles's guard.

Tuffnuts is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Charles wants to get back to full guard.
Charles wants to control but Tuffnuts is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Charles has his hands clasped together around Tuffnuts's back. He's all about the action.

Charles tries to get to full guard but Tuffnuts has control of the leg.
Tuffnuts thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Charles's head.

Tuffnuts seems to be working for a kimura but Charles defends the submission attempt.
Charles avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tuffnuts.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tuffnuts slips under a jab.
Charles misses with a wild body shot.

Charles sends Tuffnuts crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Charles is motioning to the referee to let Tuffnuts up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

It looks like Joey Tuffnuts has been cut.

Tuffnuts looks to land a right hand but Charles moved out of range.
Tuffnuts defending well as Charles loads up on a big left hand.

Tuffnuts closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Charles to the mat! Charles manages to get full guard.

Charles looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Tuffnuts has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Charles working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tuffnuts.
Tuffnuts working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Tuffnuts is looking to work some ground and pound but Charles has wrist control.

Charles wants to sweep but no luck.
Charles manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Charles looking to control but Tuffnuts is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tuffnuts wants to control but Charles is having none of it.
Tuffnuts is looking to improve his position but Charles isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Charles takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Charles avoids the attempt from Tuffnuts to control.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tuffnuts wants to control but Charles is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tuffnuts is trying hard to land a takedown here. Charles sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tuffnuts looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Charles wants to clinch.
Charles jabbing away but nothing is landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tuffnuts doesn't seem bothered though.

Tuffnuts shoots in for a double leg but Charles sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Charles holds on and takes a little breather.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Charles can do anything to dispel that myth.
Charles seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Tuffnuts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tuffnuts passes into half guard.
Tuffnuts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Charles trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Tuffnuts sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Tuffnuts has hold of Charles's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Charles manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tuffnuts prevents Charles from getting the reversal.
Tuffnuts lands a big shot there that rocks Charles but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tuffnuts tries to control but Charles wriggling away.

Tuffnuts avoids the attempt from Charles to control.
Charles holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Tuffnuts tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Charles manages to regain half guard. Good work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joey Tuffnuts will probably get the nod.

Charles looks to land a right hand but Tuffnuts moved out of range.

Charles clinches up with Tuffnuts and pushes him back against the ropes.

Charles wants to break free but Tuffnuts has control.

Charles is looking for a sweep. Tuffnuts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tuffnuts is looking to advance position but Charles won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tuffnuts throws a big right hand that misses.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Tuffnuts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Charles trying to keep a closed guard but Tuffnuts is proving a slippery customer.
Charles might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tuffnuts kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Charles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tuffnuts. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tuffnuts keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Charles's head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

I think Charles has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
