PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Diego Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krendal Svorak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Pachanga - Calienta. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svorak slips a jab and a cross from Rodrigo.

Svorak shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rodrigo's guard.
Rodrigo wants to stand but Svorak is controlling the position.
Svorak trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodrigo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rodrigo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rodrigo pushes Svorak off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Rodrigo throws a nice looking combination but Svorak bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Svorak shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rodrigo is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Svorak has taken his back!

Svorak is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rodrigo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Svorak tries to get the hooks in deep but Rodrigo pushed the leg off.

Svorak is looking for the choke from the back position but Rodrigo is controlling his hands well.
Rodrigo is trying to get back to his feet but Svorak has full control of the position and if anything, Rodrigo has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Well, with Svorak on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Rodrigo is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Svorak tries to keep control of the position but Rodrigo is staying busy.

Svorak is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Rodrigo defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodrigo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Rodrigo trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Will Svorak go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Svorak is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rodrigo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rodrigo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rodrigo throws a sloppy head kick and Svorak moves out of range easily.
Svorak shoots in for a double leg but Rodrigo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rodrigo throws a right hand that Svorak ducks under and follows up with a left that Svorak also avoids with ease.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rodrigo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Svorak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rodrigo throws a head kick that misses.
Rodrigo has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Svorak.
Rodrigo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Svorak can pounce on him.

Svorak closes the distance and clinches.
Still in the clinch, Rodrigo scores with a nice short uppercut.
Rodrigo wants to get back to striking at distance but Svorak won't allow it.
Rodrigo gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Svorak.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rodrigo is fighting off a takedown attempt but Svorak is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rodrigo to the mat. Rodrigo regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Svorak is standing up over Rodrigo. Rodrigo looks to escape but Svorak dives into side control.

Rodrigo tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
