Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodney Gailfus!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.

Gailfus gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones has Gailfus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gailfus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Gailfus lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jones or not.
Gailfus digs a right hand underneath Jones's ribcage. Jones let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jones lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Rodney Gailfus has been cut.
Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones misses with a punch on the inside.
Jones lands an elbow just above Gailfus 's eye.
Jones is trying to break free.

Gailfus gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gailfus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jones has a hand on Gailfus's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gailfus takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Gailfus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gailfus landing strikes from the mount and Jones is in trouble!
Jones is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jones is working hard here to advance position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gailfus tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones regains half guard.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Gailfus winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Gailfus seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is looking to improve his position.
Gailfus not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gailfus seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Gailfus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Well, if Gailfus is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
I looks like Gailfus might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Gailfus has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jones defend it? Gailfus steps over the head and cranks it - Jones is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gailfus!
