PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kain Veldspar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Idris Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Omar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by adu-kein scherz. Kain Veldspar has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kain Veldspar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Idris Omar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Veldspar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Omar's guard.

Veldspar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Veldspar wants to control from the top but Omar keeps moving.
Veldspar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Omar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Veldspar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Omar's guard.
Omar wants to get back to his feet.
Veldspar is looking to stall here but Omar recovers full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Veldspar wants to control from the top but Omar keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Omar wants to stand but Veldspar is controlling the position.

Veldspar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Omar dives on top into guard.
Veldspar throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Veldspar has his feet on Omar's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Omar misses with the combination.
Omar throws a right and a left that both miss.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Veldspar doesn't manage to clinch there - Omar circles away.
Veldspar avoids the body shot from Omar.
Omar connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Omar leaves Veldspar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Veldspar slips a straight right by Omar.
Omar tries to clinch but Veldspar moves out of range.

Veldspar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Veldspar prevents Omar from standing back up.

Veldspar is trying to work for a kimura but Omar is defending well.
Veldspar is breathing heavily.

Veldspar is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Omar has managed to free his arm - good work.

Veldspar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Omar is trying to stand up here but Veldspar is controlling him well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Omar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Veldspar.
Omar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Omar lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Veldspar tries to clinch up.
Veldspar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Omar throws a head kick but Veldspar moves out of range.

That was a close round but I would say that Kain Veldspar will probably get the nod.
That's time! Veldspar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Omar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Veldspar circles away quickly and effectively.
Omar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Veldspar throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Omar's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Omar is pushing Veldspar up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Idris Omar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Omar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Veldspar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Veldspar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

With the fighters up against the cage, Omar throws an elbow but misses.

Omar stalks Veldspar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Veldspar's face. Veldspar staggers backwards, shaken.

Omar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Omar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Omar paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Omar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Omar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Omar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kain Veldspar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Omar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Omar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Veldspar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Come on Omar - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
