0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, kelley betancourt! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! betancourt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from betancourt. Musashi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jun Musashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Musashi gets in close and instigates a clinch. Musashi using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
betancourt being controlled against the cage. Musashi has betancourt pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Musashi pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending betancourt tumbling to the mat - Musashi dives into betancourt's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Musashi gets to his feet. betancourt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Musashi fakes the leg kick and cracks betancourt in the body. betancourt looks gassed! Musashi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Musashi lands with a slapping head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Musashi wants to clinch. Musashi plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Musashi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as betancourt sprawls well. betancourt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Musashi gets slowly back to his feet. Musashi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. betancourt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Musashi decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on betancourt, up you get! betancourt swats away the attempt to clinch by Musashi. Musashi has managed to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Musashi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Musashi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Musashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Musashi scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Musashi gets in close and instigates a clinch. Musashi lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of betancourt backwards. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Musashi gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Musashi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Musashi works his way into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Musashi content just to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jun Musashi dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Musashi is looking to take this fight into the clinch. betancourt leaves Musashi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Musashi pushes betancourt up against the cage in a clinch. Musashi misses with an elbow over the top. Musashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Musashi gets a takedown into half guard. Musashi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. betancourt moves into full guard.
betancourt is breathing heavily. Musashi won't allow betancourt to sweep him here. Musashi trying to control but betancourt is working from the bottom. betancourt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. betancourt is working an open guard so Musashi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Musashi misses with a wild combination.
Musashi tries to close the distance and clinch but betancourt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Musashi explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Musashi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but betancourt swivels and escapes. Musashi misses with a takedown letting betancourt counter with a right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jun Musashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Musashi throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
betancourt stuffs the takedown attempt from Musashi. Musashi gets slowly back to his feet. Musashi could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Musashi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Musashi jumps guard.
Musashi wants to sweep but no luck. betancourt stops Musashi from standing up. Musashi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for betancourt! betancourt is just holding on here. Musashi manages to take his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Musashi controls the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jun Musashi dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Musashi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. betancourt keeps the fight on the outside. Musashi tries to grapple but his opponent circles and betancourt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by betancourt. betancourt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Musashi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Musashi pushes betancourt off and scrambles back to his feet.
Musashi looks to clinch and betancourt counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Musashi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. betancourt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. betancourt is looking to stand up but Musashi won't let him. Musashi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. betancourt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Musashi pushes betancourt off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Musashi drives through and clinches with betancourt against the cage.
Musashi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. betancourt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Musashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Musashi manages to end up in side control. Musashi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by betancourt, who protects the arm well. Musashi taking a breather here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Musashi tries for a kimura but betancourt is defending well. Musashi decides to stand up, so the ref orders betancourt to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Musashi instigates a clinch. betancourt is trying to break the clinch but Musashi is controlling him. Musashi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Musashi - that will leave a mark!
Musashi has his takedown stuffed and betancourt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Musashi won't be happy with that. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Musashi tries to buck betancourt off but betancourt is having none of it. kelley betancourt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jun Musashi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Musashi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked betancourt off and has taken his back!
And that's the end of the fight! kelley betancourt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Musashi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
